Mechanisms related to tumor evasion from NK cell-mediated immune surveillance remain enigmatic. Dickkopf-1 (DKK1) is a Wnt/β-catenin inhibitor, whose levels correlate with breast cancer progression. We find DKK1 to be expressed by tumor cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in patient samples and orthotopic breast tumors, and in bone.

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has not been routinely used for infants with brachial plexus birth injury (BPBI); instead, the decision to operate is based on the trajectory of clinical recovery by 6 months of age. The aim of this study was to develop an MRI protocol that can be performed without sedation or contrast in order to identify infants who would benefit from surgery at an earlier age than the age at which that decision could be made clinically.
Methods: This prospective multicenter NAPTIME (Non-Anesthetized Plexus Technique for Infant MRI Evaluation) study included infants aged 28 to 120 days with BPBI from 3 tertiary care centers.

Circulating monocytes contribute to the defense against pathogens and play a crucial role in maintaining immune homeostasis. While there is substantial evidence regarding the triggers of monocyte activation, our understanding of how monocyte function is restored toward homeostasis after activation remains limited. Here, we assessed the changes in monocyte anisocytosis upon activation in blood, measured by monocyte distribution width (MDW), a biomarker for sepsis.

Timelapse imaging using high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) has emerged as a noninvasive method to quantify bone (re)modelling. However, there is no consensus on how to perform the procedure. As part of the ASTEROID phase-2b multicenter trial, we used 29 same-day repeated scans from adults with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) to identify a method that minimized measurement error.
