Purpose: to investigate the association between vascular endothelial growth factor (-2578C/A polymorphism and susceptibility to type 2 diabetic retinopathy (T2DR) by meta-analysis.
Methods: According to the search strategy, Four databases were retrieved to identify the literature on the relationship between polymorphism and the risk of T2DR from inception to July 2024. Stata 15.

Key Laboratory of Animal Genetics and Breeding on Tibetan Plateau, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Lanzhou Institute of Husbandry and Pharmaceutical Sciences of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Lanzhou, 730050, China.
Background: Prolonged natural selection and artificial breeding have contributed to increased uniformity within the Tibetan sheep population, resulting in a reduction in genetic diversity and the establishment of selective signatures in the genome. This process has led to a loss of heterozygosity in specific genomic regions and the formation of Runs of Homozygosity (ROH). Current research on ROH predominantly focuses on inbreeding and the signals of selection; however, there is a paucity of investigation into the genetic load and selective pressures associated with ROH, both within these regions and beyond.

Based on history, maize was first introduced into Tunisia and northern Africa, at large, from the south of Spain. Several subsequent introductions were made from diverse origins, generating new landraces by recombination and selection for adaptation to arid environments. This study aimed to investigate the phylogenetic relationships among Tunisian maize landraces with possible sources of introduction from neighboring countries.

Traditional Turkish fermented foods like boza, pickles, and tarhana are recognized for their nutritional and health benefits, yet the probiotic potential of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains isolated from them remains underexplored. Sixty-six LAB strains were isolated from fermented foods using bacterial morphology, Gram staining, and catalase activity. The isolates were differentiated at strain level by RAPD-PCR (Random Amplification of Polymorphic DNA-Polymerase Chain Reaction) and twenty-five strains were selected for further evaluation of acid and bile salt tolerance.

Objective: Bamboo spine is the most severe complication of Axial spondyloarthritis (AxSpA). This study aims to address whether haplotypes of endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase (ERAP)1 and ERAP2 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), previously associated with AXSPA, are associated with the development of bamboo spine in an AxSpA cohort.
Methods: The study included 192 patients with AxSpA followed in MARS (MARmara Spondyloarthritis) clinic and fulfilling the modified New York criteria.
