Capsid Integrity qPCR (CI-qPCR) assays offer a promising alternative to cell culture-based infectivity assays for assessing pathogenic human virus viability in wastewater. This study compared three CI-qPCR methods: two novel (Crosslinker, TruTiter) and one established (PMAxx dye). These methods were evaluated on heat-inactivated and non-heat-inactivated 'live' viruses spiked into phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) and wastewater, as well as on viruses naturally present in wastewater samples.

Background: A lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) is increasingly being utilized to augment an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction because it has been shown to reduce the risk of postreconstruction graft failure or recurrent rotatory instability. Various femoral fixation techniques are available, including the use of an interference screw, staple, or suture anchor.
Purpose: To determine and compare the biomechanical properties of an LET graft when using an interference screw, staple, or suture anchor for the femoral fixation for a modified Lemaire LET.

Upstream open reading frames (uORFs) are -regulatory motifs that are predicted to occur in the 5' UTRs of the majority of human protein-coding transcripts and are typically associated with translational repression of the downstream primary open reading frame (pORF). Interference with uORF activity provides a potential mechanism for targeted upregulation of the expression of specific transcripts. It was previously reported that steric block antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) can bind to and mask uORF start codons to inhibit translation initiation, and thereby disrupt uORF-mediated gene regulation.

Label-free imaging is routinely used during cell culture because of its minimal interference with intracellular biology and capability of observing cells over time. However, label-free image analysis is challenging due to the low contrast between foreground signals and background. So far various deep learning tools have been developed for label-free image analysis and their performance depends on the quality of training data.
