Airbags indeed reduce the risk of injury and death in motor vehicle accidents, however, ocular injury induced by airbag deployment has been reported. From 1999 to 2001, medical records were retrospectively reviewed for patients with severe ocular injury related to airbag inflation at Taipei Veterans General Hospital. The ocular presentation, clinical course, management and visual outcome were recorded and studied in detail. Three cases of ocular posterior segment injury associated with airbag inflation were identified. Mean age was 37.3 years old (range 34-39 years). None of the patients was wearing a seat belt. All patients had periocular contusion, corneal edema, and hyphema. Vitreous hemorrhage was found in 3 cases, and there were 2 cases with severe macular injury, including traumatic maculopathy and hypotony maculopathy. Retinal detachment developed in 1 case. One patient presented with traumatic macular hole 6 weeks after injury. The initial visual acuity was hand motion only in all patients, the final visual outcomes recovered to 6/20, 1/60 and 2/60, respectively. The airbag-associated posterior segment ocular trauma was induced by impact with fully deployed airbag. Severe ocular posterior segment trauma with devastating visual sequelae might occur in drivers and passengers who have not fastened their seat belt.

Deep Learning (DL) has significantly contributed to the field of medical imaging in recent years, leading to advancements in disease diagnosis and treatment. In the case of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), DL models have shown high efficacy in tasks such as classification, segmentation, detection, and prediction. However, DL model's opacity and complexity lead to errors in decision-making, particularly in complex cases, making it necessary to estimate the model's uncertainty in predictions.

Purpose: Cysticercosis, caused by Taenia solium larvae, can affect various ocular and extraocular structures, leading to significant morbidity. Ultrasound B-scan imaging plays a pivotal role in diagnosing and classifying cysticercosis lesions. The aim of the study was to describe the ultrasound B-scan characteristics of ocular and extraocular cysticercosis, proposing a classification system based on anatomical localization to enhance understanding and management.

This review considers high-risk electrocardiographic patterns in the acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patient; we review 7 electrocardiogram presentations lacking diagnostic criteria for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) yet likely representing either STEMI equivalent syndromes or ACS presentations with significant short-and long-term risk. The STEMI equivalent presentations include acute posterior wall myocardial infarction, the hyperacute T-wave of early STEMI, de Winter syndrome, first diagonal of the left anterior descending artery occlusion, and left bundle branch block modified Sgarbossa positive findings. High-risk presentation, not felt to be STEMI equivalent entities yet still possessing significant risk of short-and long-term adverse outcome, include lead aVR ST-segment elevation and Wellens syndrome.

Instrumentation of C2 vertebra is considered the most difficult for young neurosurgeons and trainees due to its complex anatomical structures, variety of surgical approaches and techniques, and proximity to important neurovascular structures. Key points from a surgical perspective for midline posterior approach is described in the era of neuroradiological advancements.  Computed tomography angiographies (CTAs) of a total of 92 patients were evaluated with special attention to the key findings for insertion of screws for craniovertebral junction (CVJ) fixations.

Background: Accurate donor-recipient matching of the femoral condyle radius of curvature (ROC) in osteochondral allograft (OCA) transplantation may aid in minimizing articular surface incongruities. Matching linear femorotibial dimensions, such as the femoral condyle anterior-posterior length (APL), femoral condyle width (lateral-medial length, LML), femoral hemicondyle width (HCW), and tibial plateau width (TPW), can provide similar results if they correlate well with ROC. This study investigates the relationship between femorotibial dimensions and ROC at the cartilage surface using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
