Notch signaling in the presomitic mesoderm (psm) is critical for somite formation and patterning. Here, we show that WNT signals regulate transcription of the Notch ligand Dll1 in the tailbud and psm. LEF/TCF factors cooperate with TBX6 to activate transcription from the Dll1 promoter in vitro. Mutating either T or LEF/TCF sites in the Dll1 promoter abolishes reporter gene expression in vitro as well as in the tail bud and psm of transgenic embryos. Our results indicate that WNT activity, in synergy with TBX6, regulates Dll1 transcription and thereby controls Notch activity, somite formation, and patterning.

Background: While there is mounting evidence that closed suction drains are not necessary, there is a paucity of literature to demonstrate that drains are harmful after breast reduction. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of drains on postoperative seroma, hematoma, and infection, as well as elucidate any risk factors that may be implicated in the development of these complications.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted of all reduction mammaplasty procedures at our university medical center between 2010-2020.

Introduction: Rhinoplasty surgeons often rely on tip grafting in order to add volume in the infratip, mid-tip or supratip areas. The author has developed a novel tip graft, from the repurposed, pliable cephalic margins of the lower lateral cartilage lateral crura. The main purpose of the soft triangle tension graft (STTG) is to control tip tension of the medial crura, buttress the soft triangles and add a small degree of volume to the tip.

Synthetic Notch (SynNotch) receptors function like natural Notch proteins and can be used to install customized sense-and-respond capabilities into mammalian cells. Here, we introduce an adaptor-based strategy for regulating SynNotch activity via fluorescein isomers and analogs. Using an optimized fluorescein-binding SynNotch receptor, we describe ways to chemically control SynNotch signaling, including an approach based on a bio-orthogonal chemical ligation and a spatially controllable strategy via the photo-patterned uncaging of an o-nitrobenzyl-caged fluorescein conjugate.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) accumulate in various tissues, including bone, due to aging and conditions like diabetes mellitus. To investigate the effects of AGEs on bone material quality and biomechanical properties, an study utilizing human tibial cortex, sectioned into 90 beams, and randomly assigned to three mechanical test groups was performed. Each test group included ribose ( = 0.
