The interesterification of olive oil with palmitic acid catalyzed by Rhizopus delemar lipase was investigated in phospholipid microemulsion systems. Soybean lecithin was used as the amphiphilic component. The maximal reaction rate was obtained at a buffer pH of 5.5-6.0. The reaction rate was also dependent on the W(L) (= [H2O]/[lecithin]) value and attained a maximum at W(L)=5. The reaction rate reached a maximum at a palmitic acid concentration of 350 mM. The molar fraction of the interesterified product 1,3-dipalmitoyl-3-oleoyl glycerol (POP) in the olive oil was enhanced from 2.8 to 65.6 mol% after 24 h of the reaction.

Xanthine nucleosides play a significant role in the expansion of the four-letter genetic code. Herein, 7-functionalized 8-aza-7-deazaxanthine ribo- and 2'-deoxyribonucleosides are described. 2-Amino-6-alkoxy nucleosides were converted to halogenated 8-aza-7-deazaxanthine nucleosides by deamination followed by hydroxy/alkoxy substitution.

Microkinetic modeling of heterogeneous catalysis serves as an efficient tool bridging atom-scale first-principles calculations and macroscale industrial reactor simulations. Fundamental understanding of the microkinetic mechanism relies on a combination of experimental and theoretical studies. This Perspective presents an overview of the latest progress of experimental and microkinetic modeling approaches applied to gas-solid catalytic kinetics.

Objective: This study aims to elucidate the therapeutic efficacy and safety of a taxane-based chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors regimen in patients diagnosed with recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).
Methods: We retrospectively collected clinical data from 154 patients who received at least two cycles of PD-1 inhibitors in combination with a taxane-based chemotherapy as first-line treatment in seven hospitals in Hunan Province, between December 2018 and December 2023. These patients were subjected to long-term follow-up.

Purposes: We analyzed the acute-phase response in unilateral thyroidectomy by comparing the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOEVA) with the minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy (MIVAT).
Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to undergo either TOEVA or MIVAT, after we obtained their written informed consent to participate in this study. Blood count, C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-) were measured before surgery and then 4, 24, and 48 h after surgery.

Background: One of the most common secondary glomerular diseases in children is IgA vasculitis-associated nephritis (IgAVN). Determining the best treatment for IgAVN based on current guidelines is controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of methylprednisolone pulse therapy in Chinese children with moderate and severe IgAVN.
