How to support real-time traffic of aperiodic messages using WorldFIP is investigated in this paper. Transmission of aperiodic message within WorldFIP is a very complicated procedure because it is concerned with left time in a microcycle and must successively experience three different stages, indicating, identifying, and transmitting aperiodic message. This paper presents an integrated approach to analyze the worst-case responding time (WCRT) of aperiodic message, through integrating transmission of periodic message and these three stages of aperiodic message together. To decrease pessimistic factors in WCRT of aperiodic message, priority of aperiodic message is considered. Detail analysis of the WCRT of aperiodic message indicates that the current scheduling method cannot effectively utilize priority to guarantee important aperiodic messages. Then improved scheduling methods, one adding priority and another adjusting the schedule table, are proposed. The improved methods are finally validated by case studies.

In smart farming, precision agriculture irrigation is essential to reduce water consumption and produce higher crop yields. Closed-loop irrigation based on soil moisture measurements has demonstrated the capability to achieve a considerable amount of water savings while growing healthy crops. Automated irrigation systems are typically implemented over wireless sensor networks, where the sensing devices are battery-powered, and thus they have to manage energy constraints by implementing efficient communication schemas.

Even before Rosalin Franklin had discovered the DNA double helix, in her impressive X-ray diffraction image pattern, Erwin Schröedinger, described, in his excellent book, What is Life, how the finding of aperiodic crystals in biological systems surprised him (an aperiodic crystal, which, in my opinion is the material carrier of life). In the 21st century and still far from being able to define life, we are attending to a quick acceleration of knowledge on regulatory information. With the discovery of new codes and punctuation marks, we will greatly increase our understanding in front of an impressive avalanche of genomic sequences.

In large-scale wireless sensor networks (WSNs), nodes close to sink nodes consume energy more quickly than other nodes due to packet forwarding. A mobile sink is a good solution to this issue, although it causes two new problems to nodes: (i) overhead of updating routing information; and (ii) increased operating time due to aperiodic query. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an energy-efficient data collection method, Sink-based Centralized transmission Scheduling (SC-Sched), by integrating asymmetric communication and wake-up radio.

In his book What is Life? Erwin Schrödinger coined the term 'code-script', thought by some to be the first published suggestion of a hereditary code and perhaps a forerunner of the genetic code. The etymology of 'code' suggests three meanings relevant to 'code-script which we distinguish as 'cipher-code', 'word-code' and 'rule-code'. Cipher-codes and word-codes entail translation of one set of characters into another.
