In the polymeric title compound, [Cu(im)Cl(phen)](n), where im is the imidazolate anion (C(3)H(3)N(2)) and phen is 1,10-phenanthroline (C(12)H(8)N(2)), each Cu(II) ion is five-coordinated by four basal N atoms (two from two different im anions and two from one phen ligand) and one axial Cl atom, in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. Moreover, each im anion bridges two identical [CuCl(phen)](+) cations through its two N atoms, resulting in a one-dimensional zigzag chain along the crystallographic a axis. In addition, pairs of adjacent chains are staggered by pi-pi interactions, generating a two-dimensional layer, and neighbouring layers are further linked by two different kinds of C-H...Cl interactions, producing a three-dimensional network.

The reaction of cadmium iodide with 3-amino-pyrazole (3-apz) in ethano-lic solution leads to tautomerization of the ligand and the formation of crystals of the title compound, -poly[[di-iodido-cadmium(II)]-bis-(μ-3-amino-1-pyrazole)-κ : ;κ : ], [CdI(CHN)] or [CdI(3-apz)] . Its asymmetric unit consists of a half of a Cd cation, an iodide anion and a 3-apz mol-ecule. The Cd cations are coordinated by two iodide anions and two 3-apz ligands, generating -CdNI octa-hedra, which are linked into chains by pairs of the bridging ligands.

A new one-dimensional thiocyanate-bridged cobalt(III) Schiff base complex, namely, catena-poly[[[4-bromo-2-((Z)-{[2-(thiophen-2-yl)ethyl]imino}methyl)phenolato-κN,O]cobalt(III)]-μ-thiocyanato-κN:S], [Co(SCN)(CHBrNOS)] or [Co(μ-SCN)L] (1), where HL is 4-bromo-2-((Z)-{[2-(thiophene-2-yl)ethyl]imino}methyl)phenol, a bidentate Schiff base prepared from the condensation reaction of 5-bromosalicylaldehyde and 2-(thiophen-2-yl)ethylamine, has been synthesized by stirring Co(ClO)·6HO, the Schiff base HL and ammonium thiocyanate (in a 1:2:1 molar ratio) in ethanol medium. The complex was characterized by FT-IR, electronic spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) studies. The SC-XRD data suggest that the compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pca2.

The structure of polymeric -poly[2-amino-benzimidazolium [[dioxidovanadium(V)]-μ-oxido]], {(CHN)[VO]} , has monoclinic symmetry. The title compound is of inter-est with respect to anti-cancer activity. In the crystal structure, infinite linear zigzag vanadate (VO) chains, constructed from corner-sharing VO tetra-hedra and that run parallel to the axis, are present.
