We studied the role of cytochrome P4501A1 (CYP1A1 Val/Val) genotypes in the etiology of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in adult Mexican patients. Distributions of CYP1A1 Val/Val genotypes in peripheral blood DNA samples from 136 healthy controls and 136 adult patients with ALL were evaluated. There was an increased frequency of the CYP1A1 Val/Val genotype among ALL patients, showing a significant association between this genotype and the risk of developing ALL.

Background: CYP and GST gene families detoxify tobacco carcinogens and have been linked to the risk of non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC).
Aim: Independent and combined effects of CYP and GST genetic variations and smoking on the risk of non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) and its sub-histological types.
Methods: We modelled an epistatic interaction via the effects of particular genotypes in two genes as OR (odds ratio), OR1, and OR2, a combination of both genotypes were characterized as OR.

Background: CYP1A1 and CYP2D6 are both xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes belonging to the CYP450 enzyme family. Polymorphisms in these genes vary between individuals, resulting in dissimilar patterns of susceptibility to the effects of carcinogenic substances and drugs.
Objective: In a prospective study, the influence of CYP1A1*2C and CYP2D6*4 gene polymorphisms on the susceptibility to chronic myelocytic leukaemia (CML) were investigated.

Background/aim: The association between polymorphisms of xenobiotic/drug metabolizing enzymes and TP53 and response to chemotherapy and survival of patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are limited and inconclusive. In this study, CYP2E1*5B, CYP2E1*6, CYP2E1*7B, GSTO1 (A140D), and TP53 (Arg72Pro) polymorphisms and response to platinum-based chemotherapy and survival in 137 advanced stage NSCLC patients were investigated.
Materials And Methods: Genetic polymorphism analyses were determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) coupled with restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP).

Objective: The aim of this study was to address the association between the Ile462Val polymorphism in the gene encoding cytochrome P450 1A1 (CYP1A1) and the risk of head and neck cancer (HNC).
Materials And Methods: The Medline/PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases were searched. The strength of the association was evaluated by calculating the odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI).

Tumor gene polymorphisms are often associated with individual susceptibility to genetic diseases. Cytochrome P4501A1 (CYP1A1) and glutathione S-transferase mu 1 (GSTM1) gene polymorphisms are closely related to the susceptibility of the body to chemical carcinogens in the environment. Therefore, we explored the relationship between CYP1A1 and GSTM1 gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to bone tumors.
