We report the measurement of spatiotemporal distortions of an ultrashort pulse in singlet beam expanders. With a simple second-order autocorrelator the temporal broadening of the pulse from 23 to 40 fs, due to propagation time difference (PTD), is determined. The delay due to PTD between different parts of the beam is also measured. This effect was theoretically studied for the first time by Bor [J. Mod. Opt. 35, 1907 (1988)]. These experimental results are in good agreement with the calculations of a dedicated three-dimensional ray-tracing program developed to simulate the spatial and temporal transformation of femtosecond pulses in optical systems.

The escalating challenges posed by water resource contamination, especially exacerbated by health concerns associated with microbial fungi threats, necessitate advanced disinfection technologies. Within this context, non-thermal plasma generated within bubble column reactors emerges as a promising antifungal strategy. The effects of direct plasma bubbles within different discharge modes and thus-produced plasma activated water (PAW) on the inactivation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae are investigated.

Hybrid hydrogels are promising for wound dressing, tissue engineering, and drug delivery due to their exceptional biocompatibility and mechanical stability. This study synthesized hybrid hydrogels for photodynamic therapy using electron beam-initiated polymerization with varying PEGDA/gelatin ratios and irradiation doses to evaluate their effectiveness as uptake and release systems for five photosensitizers. Toluidine blue, O (TBO); methylene blue (MB); eosin, Y; indocyanine, green; and sodium meso-tetraphenylporphine-4,4',4″,4‴-tetrasulfonate were studied for their uptake and release dynamics in relation to their structural properties and the hydrogels' composition.

Photosensitizers and pigments in raw meat such as porphyrins, riboflavin, and myoglobin after incorporation with light beam prompt the generation of singlet oxygen (O) from triplet oxygen (O) and cause oxidative rancidity of meat products. In this study, the results of photooxidation reactions of sheep erythrocyte (red blood cell) model as a model rich in hemoglobin and phospholipids bilayer, and oleic acid model were obtained by H NMR spectroscopy, TBARS assay, and iodometric titration. In both models, the rate of lipid photooxidation in the presence of hydroalcoholic extracts of Turmeric ( L.

Spectroscopy and Excited-State Dynamics of Methyl Ferulate in Molecular Beams.

The spectroscopic and dynamic properties of methyl ferulate─a naturally occurring ultraviolet-protecting filter─and microsolvated methyl ferulate have been studied under molecular beam conditions using resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization spectroscopy in combination with quantum chemical calculations. We demonstrate and rationalize how the phenyl substitution pattern affects the state ordering of the lower excited singlet state manifold and what the underlying reason is for the conformation-dependent Franck-Condon (FC) activity in the UV-excitation spectra. Studies on microsolvated methyl ferulate reveal potential coordination sites and the influence of such coordination on the spectroscopic properties.

The merging of the electronic structure calculations and crossed beam experiments expose the reaction dynamics in the tin (Sn, P) - molecular oxygen (O, XΣ-g) system yielding tin monoxide (SnO, XΣ) along with ground state atomic oxygen O(P). The reaction can be initiated on the triplet and singlet surfaces addition of tin to the oxygen atom leading to linear, bent, and/or triangular reaction intermediates. On both the triplet and singlet surfaces, formation of the tin dioxide structure is required prior to unimolecular decomposition to SnO(XΣ) and O(P).
