As the leading cause of cancer-related mortality, lung cancer continues to pose a menacing threat to human health worldwide. Lung cancer treatment options primarily rely on chemoradiotherapy, surgery, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy. Despite significant progress in research and treatment, the 5-year survival rate for lung cancer patients is only 10-20%.

Carcinoma of the lungs is among the most menacing forms of malignancy and has a poor prognosis, with a low overall survival rate due to delayed detection and ineffectiveness of conventional therapy. Therefore, drug delivery strategies that may overcome undesired damage to healthy cells, boost therapeutic efficacy, and act as imaging tools are currently gaining much attention. Advances in material science have resulted in unique nanoscale-based theranostic agents, which provide renewed hope for patients suffering from lung cancer.

Background: Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, setups, and experimental ex-vivo approaches have been applied to numerous alveolar geometries over the past years. They aimed to study and examine airflow patterns, particle transport, particle propagation depth, particle residence times, and particle-alveolar wall deposition fractions. These studies are imperative to both pharmaceutical and toxicological studies, especially nowadays with the escalation of the menacing COVID-19 virus.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) may arise from intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) with malignant transformation, but a significant portion of IPMN remains to show benign behavior. Therefore, it is important to differentiate between benign IPMN and IPMN lesions undergoing malignant transformation. However, nonoperative differentiation by ultrasound, CT, MRI, and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) is still unsatisfactory.

Tuberculosis is a menacing disease caused eminently to the people inhabiting the tropical and sub-tropical nations. A holistic approach is required to generate T and B memory cells to effectuate a long-term exemption from the pulmonary tuberculosis. In this study, immunoinformatic approaches were used to design a multi-epitope-based subunit vaccine for pulmonary tuberculosis which may improve human immune system.
