Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in the periodontium in patients who received head and neck radiation therapy.

Methods: Periodontal clinical parameters (probing depth, clinical attachment level, gingival recession, plaque index, and bleeding on probing) were assessed on 27 patients before and 6 to 8 months following radiation therapy in the head and neck area.

Results: The greatest changes occurred in clinical attachment level: overall, 70.3% of the patients showed a loss, with 92% evincing loss in the mandible. Attachment loss was directly related to the field of radiation and was greater when the jaws were actually included in the irradiated area.

Conclusion: Periodontal status should be evaluated prior to and following radiation therapy in the oral-maxillary-facial region to help ensure that periodontal health is maintained in oncology patients.

Background: LncRNA PCAT-1 is known to promote cancer proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. However, its significance in HNSCC is not fully understood. This research investigates how the PCAT-1 / miR-145-5p / FSCN-1 axis promote HNSCC.

Background: Pancreatic enucleation is indicated for selected patients and tumours with very low oncological risk to preserve a maximum of healthy pancreatic parenchyma. Minimally invasive pancreatic enucleation (MIPE) is increasingly performed. This study aims to assess the impact of tumor location and center experience on textbook outcomes (TBO) in patients undergoing MIPE.

Here we analyzed the relative contributions of CD4 regulatory T cells expressing Forkhead box protein P3 (FOXP3) and CD8 regulatory T cells expressing killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors to the control of autoreactive T and B lymphocytes in human tonsil-derived immune organoids. FOXP3 and GZMB respectively encode proteins FOXP3 and granzyme B, which are critical to the suppressive functions of CD4 and CD8 regulatory T cells. Using CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, we were able to achieve a reduction of ~90-95% in the expression of these genes.

Background: Locally advanced periorbital cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) may require orbital exenteration, which is highly morbid. As immunotherapy develops, orbit preservation may become widespread, and data benchmarking survival with current standard-of-care surgery and radiotherapy are essential to the integration of this emerging method into modern treatment paradigms. This study aimed to determine the survival of patients after orbital exenteration for cSCC and investigate contributing factors.
