Two new trinuclear complexes 1 and 2 that are composed of the three-directional ligand 2,4,6-tris(di-2-pyridylamino)-1,3,5-triazine (dipyatriz) and copper(II) chloride as well as a 1D polymeric zigzag system 3 assembled from trimetallic type 2 building blocks have been prepared and structurally characterized. While the triazine-N are not involved in metal coordination, each ligand bidentately binds to three copper ions via its three pairs of pyridine-N donors, and five-coordination of the copper is completed by chloride or dmso solvent molecules. Variable-temperature magnetic studies reveal weak antiferromagnetic coupling. Magnetic properties of the trinuclear entities and of the bis(micro-chloro) bridged pseudo-dimeric copper(II) subunits in 3 can be rationalized on the basis of the structural findings.

In this study, a novel acid-induced heat-set soy protein hydrolysate (SPH) gel was successfully developed. The effects of protein (7 and 8 wt%) and glucono-δ-lactone (GDL, 4, 6, 8, and 10 wt%) concentrations on its aggregation and gelation behaviors were investigated by evaluating the structural, rheological, textural, and physical properties of the SPH gel. The structural properties revealed that GDL promoted the formation of SPH aggregates and gels, primarily via disulfide bonds and hydrophobic interactions, which were closely related to the unfolding of the protein structure, exposed hydrophobic groups, decreased protein solubility, and increased particle size and turbidity during the heating process.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a sophisticated diagnostic tool that utilizes the magnetic properties of biological tissue to generate detailed images of internal structures without the use of ionizing radiation. Despite its benefits in providing high-contrast images of soft tissues, the strong magnetic fields used in MRI present a unique safety challenge. Increasing MRI-related accidents and the prevalence of patients with metallic implants in recent years underscore the critical need for stringent MR safety protocols.

SKKU Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology (SAINT), Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon 16419, Republic of Korea.

Half-metallic magnetism, characterized by metallic behavior in one spin direction and semiconducting or insulating behavior in the opposite spin direction, is an intriguing and highly useful physical property for advanced spintronics because it allows for the complete realization of 100% spin-polarized current. Particularly, half-metallic antiferromagnetism is recognized as an excellent candidate for the development of highly efficient spintronic devices due to its zero net magnetic moment combined with 100% spin polarization, which results in lower energy losses and eliminates stray magnetic fields compared to half-metallic ferromagnets. However, the synthesis and characterization of half-metallic antiferromagnets have not been reported until now as the theoretically proposed materials require a delicate and challenging approach to fabricate such complex compounds.

Magnetocaloric high-entropy alloys (HEAs) have recently garnered significant interest owing to their potential applications in magnetic refrigeration, offering a wide working temperature range and large refrigerant capacity. In this study, we thoroughly investigated the structural, magnetic, and magnetocaloric properties of equiatomic GdDyHoErTm HEAs. The as-cast alloy exhibits a single hexagonal phase, a randomly distributed grain orientation, and complex magnetism.

A dual-signal aptamer-based assay utilizing colorimetric and fluorescence techniques was developed for the determination of zearalenone (ZEN). The CdTe quantum dots, serving as the fluorescent signal source, were surface-modified onto FeO@SiO and subsequently functionalized with the aptamer. The COF-Au was modified with complementary chain, which possessed peroxide (POD)-like enzyme properties, and could catalyze the peroxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to ox TMB, resulting in the generation of colorimetric signals.
