Interstep Variations of Stairways and Associations of High-Contrast Striping and Fall-Related Events: Observational Study.

Background: Interstep variations in step riser height and tread depth within a stairway could negatively impact safe stair negotiation by decreasing step riser height predictability and, consequently, increasing stair users' fall risk. Unfortunately, interstep variations in riser height and depth are common, particularly in older stairways, but its impact may be lessened by highlighting steps' edges using a high-contrast stripe on the top front edge of each step.
Objective: This study aimed to determine (1) if fall-related events are associated with greater interstep riser height and depth variations and (2) if such fall-related events are reduced in the presence of contrast-enhanced step edges compared with a control stairway.

Purpose: Undernutrition in children is a critical worldwide concern that hampers both their physical and cognitive growth. The nutritional status of school-going children and adolescents remains insufficiently addressed with no comprehensive data. This is the first study from the Himalayan foothills that aims to assess the clinical and laboratory aspects of anemia with micronutrient status in undernourished children above the age of five along with association of clinical features with anemia severity.

Objectives: To investigate whether and how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed medical imaging trends by synthesizing the highly cited studies before and during the pandemic.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we identified highly cited studies on medical imaging from the essential science indicators (ESI) database, categorizing them into two periods: before the pandemic (January 2016-December 2019) and during the pandemic (January 2020-December 2023). We conducted a global research landscape comparative analysis and utilized CiteSpace and VOSviewer software to create knowledge maps for analyzing the co-occurrences of keywords and references in this field.

In addition to blood test data, inflammation-based prognostic markers have been used to predict the prognosis of various types of cancer. However, several of these previous studies may be outdated, as they were conducted prior to the widespread adoption of immune checkpoint inhibitors, leading to limited reports on their efficacy. The present study aimed to assess the accuracy of different inflammation-based prognostic markers in patients with advanced or recurrent gastric cancer undergoing nivolumab monotherapy as salvage-line chemotherapy.
