The highly active absorbent with oxidization based on fly ash, lime and additive was prepared. Experiments of simultaneous desulfurization and denitrification were carried out using fixture bed and duct injection. The influencial factors for the absorptive capacity of the absorbent were studied. The absorptive capacities of 120.7 mg for SO2 and 43.7 mg for NOx were achieved at a Ca/(S + N) molar ratio 1.2, respectively, corresponding removal efficiencies of 87% and 76%, while spent absorbent appeared in the form of dry powder. The optimal temperature and humidity of flue gas treated with this process were shown to be approximately 50 degrees C, and 5% respectively. The mechanism of removal for SO2 and NOx was investigated. In comparison with traditional dry FGD, this process appears to have lower cost, less complicated configuration and simpler disposal of used absorbent. The valuable references can be provided for industrial application by this process. The foreground of application will be vast in China and in the world.

This study focuses on the coupled process of bio-enhanced absorption and biodesulfurization for the toxic gas HS and the greenhouse gas CO. The results show that on the basis of stabilized absorption of HS and CO by alkaline solution (Stage I), the addition of air-lift bioreactor process solution in the absorption column enhanced their absorption (Stage II). Specifically, at constant inlet concentrations of H₂S and CO₂ of 3% (30,000 ppmv) and 30% (300,000 ppmv), respectively, the outlet gases were primarily H₂S, CO₂, and N₂.

A Hydrolytically Stable Metal-Organic Framework for Simultaneous Desulfurization and Dehydration of Wet Flue Gas.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have great prospects as adsorbents for industrial gas purification, but often suffer from issues of water stability and competitive water adsorption. Herein, we present a hydrolytically stable MOF that could selectively capture and recover trace SO from flue gas, and exhibits remarkable recyclability in the breakthrough experiments under wet flue-gas conditions, due to its excellent resistance to the corrosion of SO and the water-derived capillary forces. More strikingly, its SO capture efficiency is barely influenced by the increasing humidity, even if the pore filling with water is reached.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aims to transform hazardous zinc-extraction kiln slag, which contains heavy metals, into solid-waste ceramics by combining it with other waste materials like fly ash and desulfurization gypsum.
  • - The optimal mixture (60% kiln slag, 20% desulfurization gypsum, and 20% fly ash) sintered at 1180 °C produced ceramics with a bending strength of 43.02 MPa and effectively solidified over 97% of several heavy metals (Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn).
  • - The main components of the successful ceramic were diopside and hematite, where diopside played a key role in solidifying heavy metals and improving the ceramic’s

This study focused on a new approach for valorization of both ground tire rubber (GTR) and nitrate-containing wastewater via simultaneous devulcanization and denitrification. Initially, sulfur-based autotrophic denitrifiers were successfully enriched from three different seed sludge sources, biological nutrient removal (BNR) sludge, anaerobic digester sludge and BNR sludge of a leather organized industrial zone WWTP. Average nitrate removal efficiencies were 96-98%.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune inflammation-related disease accompanied by a variety of complications. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are modulators of inflammation, and their excessive production caused by oxidative/anti-oxidative imbalance has been observed in psoriatic patients. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a ROS produced by myeloperoxidase (MPO) from chloride ions (Cl) and hydrogen peroxide (HO).
