Objective: To observe the effects of oral administration of guanxin II decoction (GX II) on cardiovascular function, especially on the dynamics of coronary blood flow in healthy males.
Methods: Changes of heart rate, diastolic pressure, systolic pressure, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), E peak, A peak, E/A value of mitral flow, diastolic peak velocity (Vmax) and diastolic flow velocity time integrals (VTI) of left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) in 11 healthy male subjects were measured before and after oral administration of GX II, using non-invasive echocardiogram.
Results: Compared with those before GX II administration, the changes after administration in heart rate, systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, LVEF, E peak, A peak and E/A value, were insignificantly different (P>0.05), but the Vmax and VTI significantly increased at 30 min, 60 min, 90 min and 120 min after GX II administration (P<0.05).
Conclusion: To increase the coronary blood flow is possibly one of the mechanisms of GX II in treating coronary heart disease and angina pectoris.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) constitutes 90% of liver cancer cases and ranks as the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality, necessitating urgent development of alternative therapies. Lactoferrin (LF), a natural iron-binding glycoprotein with reported anticancer effects, is investigated for its potential in liver cancer treatment, an area with limited existing studies. This study focuses on evaluating LF's anti-liver cancer effects on HCC cells and assessing the preventive efficacy of oral LF administration in a murine model.

Background: There is controversy surrounding the influence of dexmedetomidine on the recovery of postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction in patients under general anesthesia. The main purpose of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the effect of dexmedetomidine administration during the perioperative period on the recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients under general anesthesia.
Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis with trial sequential analysis was performed to identify randomized controlled trials comparing dexmedetomidine administration with placebo for the recovery of gastrointestinal function.

AF in patients with HF is known to increase hospitalizations and worsen prognosis. A combination of AF and HF translates into high risks of thromboembolic complications, which renders anticoagulants an important aspect of therapy for these patients.
