Ethanol-soluble, but saline-insoluble antigens were prepared as saline suspensions and studied in double diffusion reactions in a soft agarose gel. Positive reactions were observed with syphilis and SLE sera tested against the Kahn antigen as well as against commercial cardiolipin reagents. Also, ethanol-soluble brain antigen was studied for organ-specific reactions with rabbit immune sera. It was shown that double diffusion in gel can be employed as an analytical procedure for studies on reactions of saline suspensions of ethanol-soluble antigens.

Testing for PD-L1 expression by immunohistochemistry (IHC) is used to predict immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) benefit but has performed inconsistently in urothelial cancer (UC) clinical trials. Different approaches are used for PD-L1 IHC. We analyzed paired PD-L1 IHC data on UC samples using the SP142 and 22C3 assays from the phase 3 IMvigor130 trial and found discordant findings summarized by four phenotypes: PD-L1 positive by both assays (PD-L1 double positive; PD-L1DP), PD-L1 positive by the SP142 assay only (SP142 single positive; SP142SP), PD-L1 positive by the 22C3 assay only (22C3 single positive; 22C3SP), and PD-L1 negative by both assays double negative (PD-L1 double negative; PD-L1DN).

Membrane technology is a promising methodology for carbon dioxide separation due to its benefit of a small carbon footprint. However, the trade-off relationship between gas permeability and selectivity is one obstacle to limiting its application. Herein, branched polyethyleneimine (BPEI) containing a rich amino group was successfully grafted on the surface of the metal-organic framework (MOF) of AIFFIVE-1-Ni (KAUST-8) through coordination between N in BPEI and open metal sites in the MOF and with the resultant maintained BET surface area and pore volume.

Background: Extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales (ESBL-PE), particularly Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, have been consistently associated with treatment failure, high mortality and morbidity. The emergence of carbapenem resistance among ESBL-PE strains exacerbates the antimicrobial resistance. However, data are very limited in developing countries as Burkina Faso.

The extinction of species is a major threat to the biodiversity. Allee effects are strongly linked to population extinction vulnerability. Emerging ecological evidence from numerous ecosystems reveals that the Allee effect, which is brought on by two or more processes, can work on a single species concurrently.
