Overweight and obesity (OWO) are linked to dyslipidemia and low-grade chronic inflammation, which is fueled by lipotoxicity and oxidative stress. In the context of pregnancy, maternal OWO has long been known to negatively impact on pregnancy outcomes and maternal health, as well as to imprint a higher risk for diseases in offspring later in life. Emerging research suggests that individual lipid metabolites, which collectively form the lipidome, may play a causal role in the pathogenesis of OWO-related diseases.

Purpose: This study analyzed longitudinal data to examine whether occupational sitting time is associated with increases in body mass index (BMI) and five-year cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk.

Methods: We included 2,000 employed men and women (aged 31-60) from the German Study on Mental Health at Work (S-MGA) for a BMI analysis and 1,635 participants free of CVD at baseline (2011/2012) for a CVD analysis. Occupational sitting time was categorized into five groups (< 5, 5 to < 15, 15 to < 25, 25 to < 35, and ≥ 35 h per week).

Intradural disc herniation (IDDH) is a rare condition, accounting for less than 0.5% of herniated disc cases, primarily affecting the lumbar region and often presenting with severe nerve compression or cauda equina syndrome. This paper presents the case of a 60-year-old female with a history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, stroke, and hypothyroidism, who arrived with severe lower back pain, lower limb weakness, and urinary retention.

Although the risk of recurrent stroke is very high in patients with ischemic stroke (IS), the implementation of secondary prevention of IS has not received enough attention. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the cognition and compliance status of secondary prevention in patients with IS in southwest China and explore the factors affecting compliance with secondary prevention 1 year after discharge. We conducted a cross-sectional survey of patients with IS 1 year after discharge in southwest China through convenience sampling.
