Background: Seroma has been associated with some energy devices used in raising flaps during modified radical mastectomy. Perhaps, its occurrence might be reduced by determining the most effective technique for raising the flap. Hence, the wide array of energy devices available for mastectomy warrants a network meta-analysis for comparison to determine the most suitable for rseducing complications.

Background: Electrosurgical devices are commonly used during mastectomy for simultaneous dissection and haemostasis, and can provide potential benefits regarding vessel and lymphatic ligation. The aim of this prospective RCT was to assess whether using a vessel-sealing device (LigaSure™) improves perioperative outcomes compared with monopolar diathermy when performing simple mastectomy.
Methods: Patients were recruited prospectively and randomized in a 1 : 1 manner to undergo simple mastectomy using either LigaSure™ or conventional monopolar diathermy at a single centre.

Surgical correction is the main line of treatment for the congenital disorder Hirschsprung's disease (HD). Laparoscopic techniques proved their safety and efficacy in previous studies. LigaSure™ is the gold standard for colorectal dissection.

Background and Objectives: While laparoscopic appendectomy is standardized, techniques for appendiceal stump closure and mesoappendix division remain variable. Novel vessel sealing techniques are increasingly utilized ubiquitously. We sought to systematically summarize all relevant data and to define the current evidence on the safety and utility of energy devices for clipless−sutureless laparoscopic appendectomy in this systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Ultrasonic or bipolar radiofrequency energy devices are routinely used for dissection and hemostasis during thyroidectomy. We report a single-center, prospective, randomized controlled trial comparing the utility and outcomes of Harmonic Focus, an ultrasonic coagulating shear device (UCSD), versus Ligasure Small Jaw, an electrothermal bipolar vessel sealer (EBVS) in thyroidectomy (NCT01765686).
Methods: Between December 2012 to January 2016, eligible patients were randomized to undergo hemithyroidectomy using either a UCSD or an EBVS.
