The results of a 27-year follow-up of the size of the taiga tick in a subarea of the south taiga of the Middle Urals are summarized. The author has established the period of its activity, the change in the parameter of the activity by years, and the rise in the size of the vector in the past decade.

Climate conditions throughout the 21st century across much of western Canada's boreal forest have been drier than normal leading to significant impacts on forest productivity and tree growth. Determining the limiting factors of radial growth in common boreal tree species under current and future conditions is crucial to reconcile how they will continue to respond to climate change. In this study, we used a network of 26 white spruce tree-ring chronologies south of its natural range as an artificially constructed trailing edge to assess climate-growth relationships and limiting factors by identifying seasonal climate relationships and using the Vaganov-Shashkin Lite (VS-Lite) model, respectively.

Accurately mapping aboveground biomass (AGB) in China's boreal forests is crucial for assessing global carbon stock and formulating forest management strategies but remains challenging as the environmental heterogeneity complicates AGB estimation. Here, we investigated the relative gains of integrating Sentinel-2 and environmental data, as well as synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images to map AGB in China's boreal forests. We used two machine learning algorithms, random forest and gradient boosting regression (GBR), and four dataset combinations to develop the AGB models, then evaluated the AGB map by carrying on uncertainty analysis and comparing it with existing AGB products.

In forests, a significant proportion of the carbon fixed by trees during photosynthesis is transported belowground along the conducting phloem, so variations in phloem anatomy can lead to variations in transport capacity. Phloem conductance at tree level (Ktree) is also affected by tree height. Both the phloem anatomy and the tree size change during ontogeny, and also differ under different environmental conditions.
