Incorporation of a tertiary amide donor within the framework of a C(2)-symmetric analogue of 1,4,7-triazacyclononane derived from L-valine results in the isolation of a very rare example of a classical Werner copper(II) complex in which tertiary amide coordination occurs; despite the monomeric nature of the complex in the solid state, frozen solution EPR studies reveal the presence of a triplet ground state consistent with a dimeric species.

Objective: To develop a treatment algorithm for patients with penicillin allergy.

Methods: Retrospective study, carried out in adult patients with penicillin allergy, who were in group 3 or 4 of the established classification, and attended the outpatient clinic of the Department of Pulmonology and Allergy of the Central Hospital of the Social Security Institute, between January 2021 and December 2022. Each patient underwent an amoxicillin provocation test, after obtaining informed consent.

Impact of Multidrug-Resistant Bacterial Colonization on Clinical Characteristics, Antibiotic Treatment, and Clinical Outcomes of Hospital-Acquired Pneumonia.

Lung

January 2025

Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Korea University Guro Hospital, 148, Gurodong-ro, Guro-gu, Seoul, 08308, Republic of Korea.

Purpose: To determine effects of colonization with multidrug-resistant bacteria (MDRB) in general wards on characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP).

Methods: This was a multicenter retrospective cohort study of patients with HAP admitted to 16 tertiary or university hospitals in Korea from July 2019 to December 2019. From the entire cohort, patients who developed pneumonia in general wards with known colonization status before the onset of pneumonia were included in this study.

We report a two-fold strategy to convert amides to amines in the presence of dimethylamine-borane as the hydrogen source. In the absence of any additive, the formation of the amines resulted from reduction of the amides. On the other hand, in the presence of TMEDA and dimethylamine-borane, tertiary amines were obtained from primary amides in a one-pot fashion.

Background: There is a paucity of literature regarding the effect of anesthetic techniques on anti-tumor immunity, especially in Oral cavity Malignancies. We designed a study to evaluate the effect of 3 anesthetic techniques - Opioid, Lignocaine infusion and Dexmeditomedine infusion-based on anti-tumor immunity, using TGF-β, T-helper cell profile and inflammatory markers such as IL-6 and IL-10.

Methods: A pilot prospective randomized trial was conducted in 90 patients undergoing surgery for Oral cavity malignancy under general anesthesia in a tertiary specialty cancer hospital.

Impact of adaptation time on lincomycin removal in riverbank filtration: A long-term sand column study.

J Hazard Mater

December 2024

Center for Water and Ecology, State Key Joint Laboratory of Environment Simulation and Pollution Control, School of Environment, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China.

Riverbank filtration (RBF) is an effective pretreatment technology for drinking water, removing organic micropollutants (OMPs) mainly through biodegradation. Despite documented improvements in OMP removal with extended adaptation time, the mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study assessed the removal of 128 OMPs over 82 d in a simulated RBF system, identified those with improved removal, and analyzed their properties.
