Objective: To investigate the sequence polymorphism of mtDNA HV1,HV2 overlapping fragments and coding region encompassing position 8430-8673 in Hebei Han population.
Methods: Polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) combined with sequencing method was used to detect the haplotype distribution of mtDNA in 100 Hebei Han individuals.
Results: Ninety-one haplotypes were noted in 100 unrelated individuals. The gene diversity is 0.9985 and the random match probability is 0.0115. Compared with the Anderson sequence, 65 sites of different nucleotide sequences were noted, of which 44 sites were previously registered in MITOMAP, 12 sites were not registered and the gene mutations were different from MITOMAP at 9 positions.
Conclusion: The obtained data suggest that these loci are valuable genetic markers for personal identification and thus could be used as basic data for the forensic application of mtDNA in Hebei province.

The application of regenerative therapy through stem cell transplantation has emerged as a promising avenue for the treatment of diabetes mellitus (DM). Transplanted tissue homeostasis is affected by disturbances in the clock genes of stem cells. The aim of this study is to investigate the diurnal variation in mitochondrial genes and function after transplantation of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (T2DM-ADSCs) from type 2 diabetic patients into immunodeficient mice.

: GFI1-36N represents a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of the zinc finger protein Growth Factor Independence 1 (GFI1), in which the amino acid serine (S) is replaced by asparagine (N). The presence of the gene variant is associated with a reduced DNA repair capacity favoring myeloid leukemogenesis and leads to an inferior prognosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. However, the underlying reasons for the reduced DNA repair capacity in leukemic cells are largely unknown.

In the last two decades there has been growing interest in the analysis of ancient DNA obtained from the parchment used in historic documents. The genetic insight that this data provides makes collections of historic documents an invaluable source for studying the development and spread of historical livestock populations. Additionally, the biological data may provide new information for the historical analysis that could be used to determine the provenance as well as the authenticity of these documents.

Sterol composition plays a crucial role in determining the ability of yeast cells to withstand high temperatures, an essential trait in biotechnology. Using a targeted evolution strategy involving fluconazole (FCNZ), an inhibitor of the sterol biosynthesis pathway, and the immunosuppressant FK506, we aimed to enhance thermotolerance in an industrial baker's yeast population by modifying their sterol composition. This approach yielded six isolates capable of proliferating in liquid YPD with μ values ranging from 0.
