December 2024

College of Pharmacy and Inje Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, Inje University, 197 Inje-ro, Gimhae 50834, Republic of Korea.

The objective of this work was to develop a supersaturated gel formulation (SGF) loaded with the maximum atorvastatin calcium trihydrate (ATR) dose. The maximum dose strength of ATR needs to be reduced through improving solubility and dissolution rate to mitigate side effects due to the necessity of taking high doses. ATR has highly pH-dependent solubility at 37 °C, leading to poor solubility (<10 μg/mL) in stomach acid (pH 1.

A co-amorphous state composed of probucol (PC) and fluvastatin sodium salt (FLU) was prepared by spray-drying (SD). We have previously reported that PC and atorvastatin calcium trihydrate salt (ATO) formed a co-amorphous state when prepared by a SD method and that the solubility of PC and the amorphous stability were improved by the preparation of the co-amorphous state. In the present study, the physicochemical properties, including the amorphous stability of the prepared co-amorphous state, were characterized.

Division of Microbiology & Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. Electronic address:

Antimicrobial buccal hydrogel made of polymers have gained tremendous utilisation in biomedical field. Dual drug loaded, porous materials are important areas of research for medical and pharmaceutical industries. In this regard, a series of hydrogels (F1, F2, F3) were prepared with gum odina and carbopol 940 in aqueous solution with calcium chloride as the cross linker and glycerol as plasticizer by ionotropic gelation method.

Article Synopsis
  • The research explored the relationship between triglyceride (TG) levels and lumbar bone mineral density (BMD) in patients over 50 with osteoporotic fractures who had surgery.
  • A total of 3,558 patients were analyzed, showing a positive correlation between TG levels and lumbar BMD, particularly until TG levels reached a threshold of 1.26 mmol/L.
  • Beyond this threshold, while higher TG levels were noted, no significant difference in lumbar BMD was observed, suggesting that maintaining TG levels below this threshold is important for OPF patients.

Aim: This study presents the development and validation of UV-spectrophotometry and RP-HPLC methods for the simultaneous quantification of Cefixime Trihydrate (CEFI) and Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride (MOXI) in pharmaceutical formulations.

Methodology: Two UV-spectrophotometric methods, including the absorbance ratio (Q-Absorption) and First Order Derivative Spectroscopy, were developed and validated for their linearity, precision, accuracy, and sensitivity. Additionally, a robust RP-HPLC method using a C18 column and optimized mobile phase was employed for efficient separation and simultaneous estimation of CEFI and MOXI.
