Evidence suggests that attenuated mismatch negative (MMN) waves have a close link to auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH) and their clinical outcomes, especially impaired neural oscillations such as θ, β representing attentional control. In current study, thirty patients with schizophrenia and AVH (SZ) and twenty-nine healthy controls (HC) underwent multi-feature MMN paradigm measurements including frequency and duration deviant stimuli (fMMN and dMMN). Background/objectives: Negative symptoms in schizophrenia spectrum disorders are related to impaired social functioning and lower quality of life, making accurate assessment important. To date, most tools for assessing negative symptoms are observational, which can be influenced by the raters' experience and opinion. Self-rating scales, like the Self-Evaluation of Negative Symptoms (SNS), could complement observer ratings by adding information from the patient's perspective.

Patients with schizophrenia often find themselves in vulnerable situations because their cognitive impairments can make them more susceptible to exploitation and crime. A prevalent misconception is that schizophrenia is synonymous with violence, possibly fueled by selective media coverage that highlights instances of violent crimes involving individuals with schizophrenia. In reality, a large percentage of people with schizophrenia do not display violent behavior.
