Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of 125IUdR on gliomas.

Methods: By means of growth-curve, clonogenic formation experiment and MTT assay, the inhibitive effect of 125IUdR on the proliferation of C6 cells was studied in vitro. Wistar rats with intracerebral C6 gliomas were used to verify the therapeutic efficacy of 125IUdR in vivo.

Results: C6 monolayer cells were efficiently inhibited by 125IUdR in a time-and-dose-dependent manner. In the MTT assay, after treament with 150 kBq/ml 125IUdR for 5 days, the inhibition rate reached 93.06%. In murine transplantable tumor, 125IUdR had significant therapeutic effect on rats bearing solid tumor glioma C6. After treatment with 125IUdR for 5 days, the tumor weight of experiment group was lower than that of blank group and control group (P<0.01). The median survival of animals treated with 125IUdR (27 days) was markedly longer than that of control group (9 days) (P<0.01). Na 125I and 127IUdR showed little inhibitive effect on the proliferation of C6 cells in vitro and in vivo.

Conclusion: 125IUdR can markedly inhibit the growth of Glioma cell line C6. 125IUdR has potential for the treatment of malignant brain tumor.

Purpose: Breast cancer ranks as the most prevalent cancer in women, characterized by heightened fatty acid synthesis and glycolytic activity. Fatty acid synthase (FASN) is prominently expressed in breast cancer cells, regulating fatty acid synthesis, thereby enhancing tumor growth and migration, and leading to radioresistance. This study aims to investigate how FASN inhibition affects cell proliferation, migration, and radioresistance in breast cancer, as well as the mechanisms involved.

Background: Glioblastoma is characterized by neovascularization and diffuse infiltration into the adjacent tissue. T2*-based dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) MR perfusion images provide useful measurements of the biomarkers associated with tumor perfusion. This study aimed to distinguish infiltrating tumors from vasogenic edema in glioblastomas using DSC-MR perfusion images.

Objective: Gliomas are a general designation for neuroepithelial tumors derived from the glial cells of the central nervous system. According to the histopathological and immunohistochemical features, the World Health Organization classifies gliomas into four grades. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor that has been approved for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) as a second-line therapy.

Natural bone is a self-regenerating nanocomposite made of proteins and minerals. Such self-regenerative capacity can be negatively affected by certain diseases involving the bone or its surrounding tissues. Our study assesses the ability of bone grafting material to regenerate bone in animals who have artificially created critical-sized defects.

Objective: Based on our previous research, which demonstrated that elevated plasma endoglin (ENG) levels in lung cancer patients were associated with a better prognosis, increased sensitivity to pemetrexed, and enhanced tumor suppression, this study aims to validate these findings at the cellular level. The focus is on membrane and extracellular ENG and their influence on drug response and tumor cell behavior in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells.

Methods: The correlation between ENG expression and pemetrexed-induced cytotoxicity in eight human non-squamous subtype NSCLC cell lines was analyzed.
