Bioceramics for Guided Bone Regeneration: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial.

Clin Implant Dent Relat Res

February 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oral & Maxillofacial Reconstruction and Regeneration, Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedicine Ministry of Education, Hubei Key Laboratory of Stomatology, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China.

Objectives: To compare the clinical effectiveness of a novel bioceramic (BC) with a control xenograft (BO) for guided bone regeneration (GBR) performed simultaneously with implant placement.

Materials And Methods: This clinical study enrolled patients with insufficient bone volume who required GBR during implant placement to increase bone width using either BC or BO. Outcome measures included a dimensional reduction in buccal bone thickness measured by cone beam computed tomography performed immediately post-surgery and at 6 months postoperatively (ΔHBBT), soft tissue healing at 14 days, 1 month, and 6 months postoperatively, and complications rates.

Attentional Inhibition Ability Predicts Neural Representation During Challenging Auditory Streaming.

Cogn Affect Behav Neurosci

January 2025

Aix Marseille Univ, Inserm, INS, Inst Neurosci Syst, Marseille, France.

Focusing on a single source within a complex auditory scene is challenging. M/EEG-based auditory attention detection (AAD) allows to detect which stream an individual is attending to within a set of multiple concurrent streams. The high interindividual variability in the auditory attention detection performance often is attributed to physiological factors and signal-to-noise ratio of neural data.

BACKGROUND Simultaneous symmetrizing surgery at the time of unilateral free flap reconstruction has been described as a method to facilitate single stage breast reconstruction. However, the impact on cost and number of additional procedures is not well described. METHODS Patients with unilateral free flap reconstruction were identified in national administrative data from 2017-2021 and followed for one year.

IFNγ regulates ferroptosis in KFs by inhibiting the expression of SPOCD1 through DNMT3A.

Cell Death Discov

January 2025

Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, 200011, China.

Keloid is benign skin tumor, and their curing is relatively difficult due to the unclear mechanism of formation. Inducing ferroptosis of keloid fibroblasts (KFs) may become a new method for treating keloid. Here, we discover interferon (IFN)γ could induce KFs ferroptosis through inhibiting SPOC domain-containing protein 1 (SPOCD1), serving as a mode of action for CD8T cell (CTL)-mediated keloid killing.

Background: Transesutural distraction osteogenesis (TSDO) is a method of correcting midfacial hypoplasia (MH) secondary to cleft lip and palate (CLP) without osteotomy. However, there has been little research on how the morphology of the cranial base changes postoperatively or whether any correction of the cranial base occurs.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 35 pediatric patients with MH secondary to CLP, who underwent TSDO treatment.
