Unlabelled: The dentition is the foundation of the human face and is far more than just a masticatory apparatus. The smile, which is the definition of humankind, crosses all gender, age, cultural, and religious boundaries to express emotion. When enhancing or restoring a smile with aesthetic dentistry, the provisionalization phase is critical in conveying information regarding function, occlusion, phonetics, and the patient's expectations among the members of the restorative team. This presentation details a predictable process for rapidly fabricating provisional restorations with optimal fit and performance.

Learning Objectives: This article describes the role of provisionalization and a protocol for fabrication of temporary prostheses for optimal results. Upon reading this article, the reader should: Understand the role of provisionalization on the surrounding soft and hard tissue structures. Recognize the role provisionalization plays in patient education and communication.

Observational studies on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance toxicity in marine species: hints for the extrapolation of a screening value.

Environ Toxicol Chem

Centro di Referenza Nazionale per l'Analisi e Studio di Correlazione tra Ambiente, Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Mezzogiorno, Portici, Italy.

A statistical procedure has been developed to derive a screening value from an observational study related to the developmental toxicity observed in loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) eggs exposed to long chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). A dataset of 41 nests in which the hatching rate was inversely correlated with the increase in the PFAS concentration in unhatched eggs was processed via a categorical regression approach. After outliers identification and removal, categorical regression analysis tested the relationships of the outcomes with the following parameters: perfluoro-nonanoic (PFNA), decanoic (PFDA), undecanoic (PFUdA), and dodecanoic (PFDoA) acids; perfluoroctansulfonate (PFOS); polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs) 28, 52, 101, 138, 153, 180; lead (Pb), total mercury (Hgtot), and cadmium (Cd); and other factors, such as "nest site," "clutch size," "incubation duration," and "nest minimum depth," as confounders/modifiers of the hatching rate.

Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease that affects 1 in 10 reproductive-aged women. Most studies investigate established disease; however, the initiation and early events in endometriotic lesion development remain poorly understood. Our study used neutrophils from human menstrual effluent from subjects with and without endometriosis for immunophenotyping, and a mouse model of endometriosis and a mouse endometriosis cell line to determine the role of neutrophils in the initiating events of endometriosis, including attachment and survival of minced endometrial pieces.

Acute aortic dissection (AD) is a critical condition characterized by high mortality and frequent misdiagnoses, primarily due to symptom overlap with other medical pathologies. This study explores the diagnostic utility of ChatGPT 4.0, an artificial intelligence model developed by OpenAI, in identifying acute AD from patients' presentations and general physical examination findings documented in published case reports.

Pain is a dynamic and nonlinear experience shaped by injury and contextual factors, including expectations of future pain or relief. While μ opioid receptors are central to the analgesic effects of opioid drugs, the endogenous opioid neurocircuitry underlying pain and placebo analgesia remains poorly understood. The ventrolateral column of the posterior periaqueductal gray is a critical hub for nociception and endogenous analgesia mediated by opioid signaling.

Monitoring of cancer ferroptosis with [F]hGTS13, a system xc- specific radiotracer.

Department of Radiology, Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford (MIPS), Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA, 94305, USA.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and aggressive primary brain tumor in adults, characterized by resistance to conventional therapies and poor survival. Ferroptosis, a form of regulated cell death driven by lipid peroxidation, has recently emerged as a promising therapeutic target for GBM treatment. However, there are currently no non-invasive imaging techniques to monitor the engagement of pro-ferroptotic compounds with their respective targets, or to monitor the efficacy of ferroptosis-based therapies.
