Stochastic Filtering of the Attitude Quaternion.

Sensors (Basel)

December 2024

Mechanical Engineering Department, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva 84105, Israel.

Several stochastic H∞ filters for estimating the attitude of a rigid body from line-of-sight measurements and rate gyro readings are developed. The measurements are corrupted by white noise with unknown variances. Our approach consists of estimating the quaternion while attenuating the transmission gain from the unknown variances and initial errors to the current estimation error.

Whole-genome sequencing identifies novel loci for keratoconus and facilitates risk stratification in a Han Chinese population.

Eye Vis (Lond)

January 2025

National Engineering Research Center of Ophthalmology and Optometry, Eye Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, 325027, China.

Background: Keratoconus (KC) is a prevalent corneal condition with a modest genetic basis. Recent studies have reported significant genetic associations in multi-ethnic cohorts. However, the situation in the Chinese population remains unknown.

Background: Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death globally for people aged 5-29 years, with 90% of mortality occurring in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The STABLE (Slashing Two-wheeled Accidents by Leveraging Eyecare) trial was designed to determine whether providing spectacles could reduce risk among young myopic motorcycle users in Vietnam.

Methods: This investigator-masked, stepped-wedge, cluster randomised naturalistic driving trial will recruit 625 students aged 18-23 years, driving ≥ 50 km/week, with ≥ 1-year driving experience and using motorcycles as their primary means of transport, in 25 clusters of 25 students in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Objective: This review article discusses investigational subretinal gene therapies for retinal vascular diseases, including AVA-101, an adeno-associated viral (AAV) 2 vector expressing soluble vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor 1, ABBV-RGX-314, an AAV8 vector expressing an anti-VEGF-A antibody fragment, and EXG102-031, an AAV8 vector expressing a recombinant protein that blocks VEGF family members and angiopoietin 2.

Design: Review article CONCLUSION: Subretinal injection is a commonly used delivery route for investigational gene therapy agents which is theorized to provide relative immune privilege, thereby reducing the risk of inflammation, while providing high transgene expression in photoreceptors and retinal pigment epithelium. Subretinal injection of AVA-101 demonstrated safety and tolerability in Phase I and IIa trials, but failed to maintain visual acuity and control exudation.
