The genus Pelomyxa includes 15 species of anaerobic Archamoebae with remarkable diverse nucleoplasm morphology. Nuclear structures, like chromatin and nucleoli, of several members of the genus was previously identified only based on their ultrastructural similarity to typical structures of somatic cells of higher eukaryotes. Here, we explored an easy-to-use, one-step intravital staining method with DAPI and pyronin to distinguish between DNA and RNA structures in nuclei of unfixed cells of Pelomyxa belevskii and P.

Background: In infertility clinics, long-time preserving high-quality spermatozoa is a challenging problem.

Objective: The present study aimed to prolong preserving of the human spermatozoa by adding pentoxifylline (PT) and L-carnitine (LC) without using high-cost freezing techniques.

Materials And Methods: In this experimental study, semen samples of 26 normozoospermia men aged between 28-34 yr, were firstly prepared using the swim-up technique, and each sample was divided into the following 3 aliquots: untreated control group, the LC, and PT-treated groups.

Breast cancer ranks as the second leading reason of cancer mortality among females globally, emphasizing the critical need for novel anticancer treatments. In current work, berberine-zinc oxide conjugated chitosan nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized using various characterization techniques. The cytotoxic effects of CS-ZnO-Ber NPs on MCF-7 cells were assessed using the MTT assay.

Cytogenomics of (Hymenoptera: Apidae) and the Sharing of a Satellite DNA Family in Several Neotropical Meliponini Genera.

Genes (Basel)

January 2025

Laboratório de Citogenética de Insetos, Departamento de Biologia Geral, Universidade Federal de Viçosa, Campus Universitário, Viçosa 36570-900, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Background/objectives: A striking feature of the karyotypes of stingless bees is the large amount of heterochromatin present in most species. Cytogenomic studies performed in some Meliponini species have suggested that evolutionary events related to the diversification and amplification of satellite DNA families in the heterochromatin may reflect the structuring of phylogenetic clades in this tribe. In this study, we performed a genomic analysis in to characterize different satDNA families in its genome.

A Challenging Case of Myeloid Sarcoma Misdiagnosed as High-Grade B-Cell Lymphoma.

Ann Clin Lab Sci

November 2024

Department of Pathology, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, McGovern Medical School, Houston, TX, USA.

A 46-year-old female presented with back pain associated with progressive bilateral lower extremity weakness and paresthesia. Imaging studies revealed a retroperitoneal mass with severe spinal compression. Histological sections showed blastoid cells with large nuclei, irregular membranes, fine chromatin, and prominent nucleoli.
