Electrochemically grown copper nanoclusters (CuNCs: < 3 nm) from single-atom catalysts have recently attracted intensive attention as electrocatalysts for CO2 and CO reduction reaction (CO2RR/CORR) because they exhibit distinct product selectivity compared with conventional Cu nanoparticles (typically larger than 10 nm). Herein, we conducted a detailed investigation into the size dependence of CuNCs on selectivity for multicarbon (C2+) production in CORR. These nanoclusters were electrochemically grown from single Cu atoms dispersed on covalent triazine frameworks (Cu-CTFs).

Enhanced Image Retrieval Using Multiscale Deep Feature Fusion in Supervised Hashing.

J Imaging

January 2025

RCAM Laboratory, Telecommunications Department, Sidi Bel Abbes University, Sidi Bel Abbes 22000, Algeria.

In recent years, deep-network-based hashing has gained prominence in image retrieval for its ability to generate compact and efficient binary representations. However, most existing methods predominantly focus on high-level semantic features extracted from the final layers of networks, often neglecting structural details that are crucial for capturing spatial relationships within images. Achieving a balance between preserving structural information and maximizing retrieval accuracy is the key to effective image hashing and retrieval.

UiO-66 Metal-Organic Framework Membranes: Structural Engineering for Separation Applications.

Membranes (Basel)

January 2025

Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai 519087, China.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been recognized as promising materials for membrane-based separation technologies due to their exceptional porosity, structural tunability, and chemical stability. This review presents a comprehensive discussion of the advancements in structure engineering and design strategies that have been employed to optimize UiO-66 membranes for enhanced separation performance. Various synthesis methods for UiO-66 membranes are explored, with a focus on modulated approaches that incorporate different modulators to fine-tune nucleation rates and crystallization processes.

Alginates are abundant linear polysaccharides produced by brown algae and some bacteria. They have multiple biological roles and important medical and commercial uses. Alginates are comprised of D-mannuronic acid (M) and L-guluronic acid (G) and the ratios and distribution patterns of M and G profoundly impact their physiological and rheological properties.

Natural products are ligands and in vitro inhibitors of Alzheimer's disease (AD) tau. Dihydromyricetin (DHM) bears chemical similarity to known natural product tau inhibitors. Despite having signature polyphenolic character, DHM is ostensibly hydrophobic owing to intermolecular hydrogen bonds that shield hydrophilic phenols.
