Introduction: Temporomandibular joint ankylosis is defined as permanent jaw constriction with an interincisal mouth opening of less than 30 mm, due to bony, fibro-osseous or fibrous fusion. : A 65-year-old male veteran presented to the Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) emergency department with progressive fatigue, dyspnea on exertion, lightheadedness, and falls over the last month. New bilateral lower extremity numbness up to his knees developed in the week prior to admission and prompted him to seek care. Additional history included 2 episodes of transient loss of consciousness resulting in falls and a week of diarrhea, which had resolved.

High-energy blunt thoracic trauma is a highly morbid condition. When a pneumonectomy is required in such a setting, the mortality rate increases significantly. Here, we present a case of a motor vehicular crash (MVC) in which the patient suffered bilateral bronchial injuries requiring emergent thoracotomy, pneumonectomy, bronchial stenting, and initiation of venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO).

Background: Post-traumatic cerebral infarction (PTCI) is a severe complication resulting from traumatic brain injury (TBI), which can lead to permanent neurological damage or death. The investigation of the factors associated with PTCI and the establishment of predictive models are crucial for clinical practice.
Methods: We made a retrospective analysis of clinical data from 1484 TBI patients admitted to the Neurosurgery Department of a provincial hospital from January 2018 to December 2023.
