Cognitive aspects of aging represent a grave challenge for our societal circumstances as members of the baby-boom generation spiral toward a collective 'senior moment'. In addition, age-related changes in the CNS can contribute to motor deficits and other somatic aberrations. Inflammation and its regulation by cytokines have been connected to many aspects of aging, and mechanisms addressed here provide a rationale for this. Nevertheless, a role for cytokines in normal aging of the human brain has not been confirmed, and it seems to be possible to ameliorate both cognitive decline and cytokine elevation via lifestyle choices. So ignorance of the brain should not prohibit development of successful strategies for delaying or avoiding neurological deficits.

Background: Despite considerable improvements in oral health in recent decades, caries and periodontitis are still widespread, ranking among the most prevalent diseases worldwide and requiring future research. The German National Cohort (NAKO Gesundheitsstudie, NAKO) is a large-scaled, multidisciplinary, nationwide, multi-centre, population-based, prospective cohort study with oral examinations that aims to provide a resource to study risk factors for major diseases. The aim of the present article is to provide the methodological background, to report on the data quality, and to present initial results of the oral examinations.

Background And Objectives: The heterogeneity of population-based trajectories of care recipients' (CRs) cognitive functioning and how they are associated with their caregivers' mental health is less studied in the United States. Informed by the stress process model, this study examines the relationship between care recipients' cognitive trajectories and caregivers' depressive symptoms, and the mediating role of caregiving burden.
Research Design And Methods: Data were from the National Health and Aging Trends Study (2011-2020) for 1,086 care recipients and their 1,675 caregivers from the 2021 National Study of Caregiving.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is among the most devastating neurodegenerative disorders with limited treatment options. Emerging evidence points to the involvement of lipid dysregulation in the development of AD. Nevertheless, the precise lipidomic landscape and the mechanistic roles of lipids in disease pathology remain poorly understood.

Background: Telomere length is an important indicator of biological age and a complex multi-factor trait. To date, the telomere interactome for comprehending the high-dimensional biological aspects linked to telomere regulation during childhood remains unexplored. Here we describe the multi-omics signatures associated with childhood telomere length.

Cellular senescence is an irreversible cell cycle arrest caused by various stressors that damage cells. Over time, senescent cells accumulate and contribute to the progression of multiple age-related degenerative diseases. It is believed that these cells accumulate partly due to their ability to evade programmed cell death through the development and activation of survival and antiapoptotic resistance mechanisms; however, many aspects of how these survival mechanisms develop and activate are still unknown.
