Background: The application of endoscopic clips in the therapy of bowel or stomach perforations has been reported in few cases only.

Case Report: In a 43-year-old woman, endoscopic resection of a submucosal gastric tumor sized 1.2 cm, histologically proven to be a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), was complicated by bleeding and a small perforation. In the emergency endoscopy not only the bleeding but also the perforation could be treated successfully using hemoclips. The clinical course remained free from further complications.

Conclusion: This case, as well as previously reported cases, demonstrates that the endoscopic hemoclip technique seems to be suitable for the treatment of some small gastric perforations.
