Objective: The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of postmenopausal vasomotor symptoms (VMS) and the impact of VMS and related treatment patterns among perimenopausal and postmenopausal Canadian women.
Methods: A subgroup analysis of data from a cross-sectional online survey of women aged 40-65 years conducted November 4, 2021, through January 17, 2022, evaluated the prevalence of moderate/severe VMS among postmenopausal Canadian women. The analysis also assessed survey responses from perimenopausal and postmenopausal Canadian women with moderate/severe VMS who completed the Menopause-Specific Quality of Life questionnaire, Work Productivity and Activity Impairment questionnaire, and the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Sleep Disturbances-Short Form 8b and answered questions about treatment patterns and attitudes toward treatments.

Clonus is characterized by involuntary, rhythmic, oscillatory muscle contractions, typically triggered by rapid muscle stretching and is frequently associated with spastic equinovarus foot (SEVF), where it may increase risk of falls and cause discomfort, pain, and sleep disorders. We hypothesize that selective diagnostic nerve block (DNB) of the tibial nerve motor branches can help identify which muscle is primarily responsible for clonus in patients with SEVF and provide useful information for botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT-A) treatment. This retrospective study explored which calf muscles contributed to clonus in 91 patients with SEFV after stroke (n = 31), multiple sclerosis (n = 21), and cerebral palsy (n = 39), using selective DNB.

is an aggressive pathogen of pulse crops and a causal agent in root rot disease that negatively impacts Canadian agriculture. This study reports the results of a targeted metabolomics-based profiling of secondary metabolism in an 18-strain panel of cultured axenically in multiple media conditions, in addition to an in planta infection assay involving four strains inoculated on two pea cultivars. Multiple secondary metabolites with known roles as virulence factors were detected which have not been previously associated with , including fungal decalin-containing diterpenoid pyrones (FDDPs), fusaoctaxins, sambutoxin and fusahexin, in addition to confirmation of previously reported secondary metabolites including enniatins, fusarins, chlamydosporols, JM-47 and others.

Survivors of childhood cancer face reduced fertility, which can be a significant cause for concern. Our study aimed to assess the prevalence of fertility-related concerns and identify associated factors. Self-report data were collected with the Long-Term Survivor Questionnaire at the Alberta Children's Hospital's Long-Term Survivor Clinic (LTSC) between January 2021 and September 2023.

Cellular senescence has been implicated in the aging-related dysfunction of satellite cells, the resident muscle stem cell population primarily responsible for the repair of muscle fibres. Despite being in a state of permanent cell cycle arrest, these cells remain metabolically active and release an abundance of factors that can have detrimental effects on the cellular microenvironment. This phenomenon is known as the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), and its metabolic profile is poorly characterized in senescent muscle.
