Background: In vascular tissue, macrophages and inflammatory cells produce the enzyme lipoprotein- associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2). Treatment with fibrates decreases Lp-PLA2 levels in individuals with obesity and metabolic syndrome; however, these findings have not been fully clarified.

Objective: The goal of this study was to investigate the possible effects of fibrate therapy on Lp-PLA2 mass and activity through a meta-analysis of clinical trials.

The tunability of the energy bandgap in the near-infrared (NIR) range uniquely positions colloidal lead sulfide (PbS) quantum dots (QDs) as a versatile material to enhance the performance of existing perovskite and silicon solar cells in tandem architectures. The desired narrow bandgap (NBG) PbS QDs exhibit polar (111) and nonpolar (100) terminal facets, making effective surface passivation through ligand engineering highly challenging. Despite recent breakthroughs in surface ligand engineering, NBG PbS QDs suffer from uncontrolled agglomeration in solid films, leading to increased energy disorder and trap formation.

Favorable Contact with Low Interfacial Resistance for n-Type TiCoSb-Based Thermoelectric Devices.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, Dr. K.S. Krishnan Marg, New Delhi 110012, India.

In the past decade, significant efforts have been made to develop efficient half-Heusler (HH) based thermoelectric (TE) materials. However, their practical applications remain limited due to various challenges occurring during the fabrication of TE devices, particularly the development of stable contacts with low interfacial resistance. In this study, we have made an effort to explore a stable contact material with low interfacial resistance for an n-type TiCoSb-based TE material, specifically TiNbCoSbBi as a proof of concept, using a straightforward facile synthesis route of spark plasma sintering.

Molecular docking to investigate HLA-associated idiosyncratic drug reactions.

Drug Metab Rev

January 2025

Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.

Idiosyncratic drug reactions (IDRs) pose severe threats to patient health. Unlike conventionally dose-dependent side effects, they are unpredictable and frequently manifest as life-threatening conditions, such as severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs) and drug-induced liver injury (DILI). Some HLA alleles, such as , , and , are known risk factors for adverse reactions induced by multiple drugs.

Attitudes, beliefs and preferences surrounding home-based exercise programs in endometrial cancer patients receiving treatment.

Gynecol Oncol Rep

February 2025

University of Iowa, Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, G60 Psychological and Brain Sciences Building, 340 Iowa Ave, Iowa City, IA 52242, USA.

Background: Despite recommendations, exercise participation among endometrial cancer survivors remains low. Previous interventions focused on weight loss or in-person programs with limited reach. Regular exercise, regardless of weight change, reduces mortality risk and improves functionality.
