Circular whitish granular lesions, 5-12 mm in diameter, were observed on the skin and fins of a wild northern pike, Esox lucius, caught in a lake in the Republic of Ireland. Histological examination of the lesions revealed hypertrophied cells in the epidermis with deeply basophilic enlarged nuclei and dark-staining granular material in the cytoplasm. Transmission electron microscopy of these cells revealed naked hexagonal herpes-like virus nucleocapsids (97 +/- 7 nm) in their nuclei while the cytoplasm contained multiple aggregates of enveloped viral particles. This is the first report of herpes-like virus particles in northern pike originating outside North America, where esocid herpesvirus-1 (EsHV-1) has previously been reported. Shared clinical, histological, morphological and epidemiological findings suggest that the observed particles in this report may also be EsHV-1.

During routine sampling of northern pike, a male with circular blue-metallic granular spots mainly located on the head and back was identified. Histological investigations presented multifocally thickened epidermis rich in basophilic large structures with a granulated rim and a dense, non-granulated center. Other organs showed no signs of infection.

Caviid gammaherpesvirus 1 (CaGHV-1), formerly known as the guinea pig herpes-like virus, is an oncogenic gammaherpesvirus with a sequenced genome but an as-yet uncharacterized transcriptome. Using nanopore long-read RNA sequencing, we annotated the CaGHV-1 genome and constructed a detailed transcriptomic atlas. Our findings reveal diverse viral mRNAs and non-coding RNAs, along with mapped promoter elements for each viral gene.

Guinea Pig Herpes-Like Virus (GPHLV) is a virus isolated from leukemic guinea pigs with herpes virus-like morphology described by Hsiung and Kaplow in 1969. GPHLV transformed embryonic cells from Syrian hamsters or rats, which were tumorigenic in adult animals. Herein, we present the genomic sequence of GPHLV strain LK40 as a reference for future molecular analysis.

Background: Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is the most common cause of genital ulcers in industrialized countries. Herpes zoster (HZ) is an acute, cutaneous viral infection caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV).
Case Summary: A 27-year-old male presented with painful vesicles over the trunk for the last 5 days with painful genital erosions for the last 2 days.

Introduction: A new entity, which occurs a few weeks after SARS-CoV-2 infection and resembling incomplete Kawasaki disease or toxic shock syndrome, has been defined and named multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) associated with COVID-19 in children. The aim of our study was to describe histopathological characteristics of skin lesions of MIS-C patients to reveal whether there is a relationship between histopathological features and clinical manifestations.
Materials And Methods: Seventeen who had skin involvement of 57 patients who were diagnosed with MIS-C between December 2020 and February 2021 were included in this prospective study.
