The rovibrational spectrum assigned to the low-lying (3)B(2) electronic state of ozone is measured with intracavity laser absorption spectroscopy. The experimental results are interpreted by means of quantum dynamical calculations on a global ab initio potential energy surface. The observed spectrum is shown to originate from the vibrational ground state in the local minimum of the (3)B(2) potential. The spectrum of short-lived resonance states in this local minimum is analyzed. Additionally, the global minimum of the surface is shown to lie in the dissociation channel in the van der Waals region. This region supports a short sequence of weakly bound vibrational states.

Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) is a therapeutic vulnerability in glycolysis-deficient cancers. Here we show that inhibiting OXPHOS similarly suppresses the proliferation and tumorigenicity of glycolytically competent colorectal cancer (CRC) cells in vitro and in patient-derived CRC xenografts. While the increased glycolytic activity rapidly replenished the ATP pool, it did not restore the reduced production of aspartate upon OXPHOS inhibition.

Lack of thermal acclimation in multiple indices of climate vulnerability in bumblebees.

Indices of climate vulnerability are used to predict species' vulnerability to climate change based on intrinsic physiological traits, such as thermal tolerance, thermal sensitivity and thermal acclimation, but rarely is the consistency among indices evaluated simultaneously. We compared the thermal physiology of queen bumblebees between a species experiencing local declines () and a species exhibiting continent-wide increases (). We conducted a multi-week acclimation experiment under simulated climate warming to measure critical thermal maximum (CT), critical thermal minimum (CT), the thermal sensitivity of metabolic rate and water loss rate and acclimation in each of these traits.

Introduction: The Global Observatory for Physical Education (GoPE!) builds on the Global Observatory for Physical Activity (GoPA!) to address gaps in surveillance, policy, and research on physical education (PE) and activity (PA). High-Arctic environments are facing an elevated pace of warming and increasing human activities, making them more susceptible to the introduction and spread of alien species. We investigated the role of human disturbance in facilitating the spread of a native plant () in a high-Arctic natural environment close to Isfjord Radio station and along adjacent hiking trails at Kapp Linné, Svalbard. We reconstructed the spatial pattern of the arrival and spread of at Kapp Linné by combining historical records of the species occurrence (1928-2018) with a contemporary survey of the plant abundance along the main hiking trail (2023 survey) and tested the relative effects of altitude and proximity to hiking trails on the species density via a generalised linear model (GLM).
