Purpose: Difficult venous access (DVA), characterized by non-visible and non-palpable veins, is common in oncology patients. The objectives of this study were to compare the performances of two blood collection sets in an oncology phlebotomy setting: BD Vacutainer® UltraTouch™ Push Button (UT-PBBCS) and BD Vacutainer® Safety-Lok™ Blood Collection Set (SLBCS). The two sets were evaluated to assess whether use of a smaller gauge (G) needle (down-gauging) may reduce patient pain and improve peripheral venous access experience during phlebotomy in oncology patients.

Objective: To evaluate the real-world performance of the SMART/HL7 Bulk Fast Health Interoperability Resources (FHIR) Access Application Programming Interface (API), developed to enable push button access to electronic health record data on large populations, and required under the 21st Century Cures Act Rule.
Materials And Methods: We used an open-source Bulk FHIR Testing Suite at 5 healthcare sites from April to September 2023, including 4 hospitals using electronic health records (EHRs) certified for interoperability, and 1 Health Information Exchange (HIE) using a custom, standards-compliant API build. We measured export speeds, data sizes, and completeness across 6 types of FHIR.

Purpose: Blood culture (BC) diagnostics are influenced by many factors. We performed a targeted interdisciplinary analysis to analyse effects of various measures on BC diagnostics performance.
Methods: A diagnostic stewardship initiative was conducted at two intervention and two control wards in a German tertiary level hospital.

Division of Quantitative Health Sciences, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Rochester, USA.
Background: Disruptions to clinical trials conducted in the intensive care unit (ICU) due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2; coronavirus disease 2019 [COVID-19]) pandemic included fewer new trials activated and more trials stopped. While a number of ongoing, non-COVID-19 clinical trials remained open to enrollment, the direct impact of the pandemic on ICUs instilled chaos in this already challenging environment. The numerous challenges need to be reported so investigators can proactively plan and manage these myriad challenges.

Purpose: To explore relevant parameters and investigate their test-retest reliability within the scope of the push button task of the Task-oriented Arm-hAnd Capacity (TAAC) measured in children with unilateral Cerebral Palsy (CP).
Methods: 118 children diagnosed with unilateral CP, aged between 6 and 18 years, participated in this study. Thetest-retest reliability of the force generated during the push button task of the TAAC was investigated using an intraclass correlation (ICC) two-way random model with absolute agreement.
