Objective: To introduce a compound external ear framework characterized by few complications, simplicity and very low rate of implant exposure or absorption.
Methods: A compound auricular framework, being composed of the ninth autogenous costal cartilage as ear rim and Medpor ear base, was used in one-stage total ear reconstruction. All patients were followed up postoperatively.
Results: Nine cases have been performed clinically using this compound framework and all of them achieved satisfactory efficacies. The reforged ears looked natural and achieved superior cosmesis, and none of them experienced ear rim fracture or implant exposure or distortion.
Conclusion: This compound auricular framework has advantages of practicability, simplicity and minimal complications. It may be an ideal framework for the reconstruction of total external ear at present.

Cases of microtia combined with pulmonary hypoplasia are occasionally in clinics, and its genetic etiology has so far proved inconclusive. Here, aiming to contribute to a better understanding of microtia-related comorbid respiratory anomalies, the authors provide a clinical and genetic description of a rare trio family of which the son suffers combined deformities of right microtia, left pulmonary hypoplasia, and dextrocardia using whole-genome sequence (WGS). A novel potential pathologic compound heterozygosity in the FREM1 gene was identified and validated by the trio and bioinformatics analysis.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory skin disorder characterised by hypersensitivity to allergens, eczematous lesions and pruritus. The aim of this study was to comprehensively characterise a murine model of dermatitis and assess the similarity with the human disease, as well as to profile clinically relevant AD therapies. Four repeated topical administrations of oxazolone in the auricular skin of sensitised mice induced morphological features compatible with AD, including redness and swelling, as well as histological changes typical of spongiotic (eczematous) dermatitis and increased plasmatic IgE.

Background: Vestibular schwannomas (VS) are complex and heterogeneous human tumors arising from the Schwann cell compartment of the vestibulocochlear nerve. VS cause significant neurological deficit such as hearing loss and vestibular impairment, and in some cases death due to brainstem compression. There is an urgent need to find pharmacotherapies for VS since surgical removal and stereotactic radiosurgery are the only effective treatments.

MsrB1 is a thiol-dependent enzyme that reduces protein methionine--sulfoxide and regulates inflammatory response in macrophages. Therefore, MsrB1 could be a promising therapeutic target for the control of inflammation. To identify MsrB1 inhibitors, we construct a redox protein-based fluorescence biosensor composed of MsrB1, a circularly permutated fluorescent protein, and the thioredoxin1 in a single polypeptide chain.

Introduction: Psoriasis, a persistent skin condition caused by the disorder of the immune system, impacts approximately 1.25 million individuals globally. Nevertheless, the presence of adverse effects in conventional clinical drugs necessitates further exploration of novel medications or combination therapies to mitigate these reactions and enhance their effectiveness.
