Published: September 2004

The aim of this paper was to identify factors significant to the use of single-stage dental implants in the aesthetic zone and discuss treatment considerations related to them. In view of available literature and clinical experiences, treatment outcomes associated with the use of single-stage Straumann implants (Institut Straumann AG, Waldenburg, Switzerland) in the aesethetic zone can be considered positive and predictable.

Objective: This randomized clinical trial aimed to compare the short-term postsurgical symptoms after insertion of one or two implants for retention of a mandibular overdenture. This study investigated whether the less invasive single-implant approach results in lower postoperative symptoms compared to the conventional two-implant overdenture.

Materials And Methods: Patients received new complete dentures and were randomly assigned to groups receiving one or two single-stage, early-loaded hydrophilic implants, inserted in the midline (n = 23), or the lateral incisor-canine area bilaterally (n = 24).

Objectives: To assess the relationship between the vertical buccal defect size and the outcome of single-stage (non-submerged) implant placement and simultaneously augmentation of sites with mineralized particulate allograft (Puros Cancellous) using collagen membranes (Ossix Plus).

Subjects And Methods: Records of 108 partially edentulous patients with localized, buccal bone defects in the posterior maxilla and/or mandible [156 tissue-level Straumann implants, 38 male, 70 female, average age = 46.7 (6.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to observe and compare any loosening of screws attaching several interchangeable abutments to internally connected implants after cyclic loading.

Materials And Methods: Four different abutment groups mated with Straumann single-stage transmucosal implants (n = 7 each group) were assessed: Straumann solid abutment, Restore COC abutment, Neoplant solid abutment, and AVANA solid abutment. Each implant was fixed rigidly in a special holding jig.

Background: Reduced alveolar bone volume complicates implant dentistry.

Purpose: In this prospective multicenter study, a new, 4-mm long Straumann SLActive implant (Ø 4.1 mm) supporting a fixed dental prosthesis (FDP) in the severely resorbed posterior mandible was evaluated for two years.

Implant supported rehabilitation of thin edentulous ridges with horizontal atrophy necessitates a regenerative approach. Within the procedures for horizontal bone defects augmentation, ridge expansion techniques permit dislocation of the buccal bone plate in a labial direction and simultaneous implant insertion in single-stage surgery, abbreviating overall treatment time. The piezoelectric ridge expansion technique permits to obtain the expansion of very mineralized bone crests without excessive traumas or the risk of ridge fractures.
