Effect of Collagen-Reactive Functional Monomer on Etch-and-Rinse Adhesives.

J Dent Res

March 2023

State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structures and Materials, College of Chemistry, Jilin University, Changchun, China.

In this study, we evaluated a novel functional monomer (4-formylphenyl acrylate [FA]) that can specifically and covalently bind to the dentin collagen matrix as a potential alternative hydrophobic diluent-like monomer for improving the durability of dentin bonding. Experimental adhesives with different FA contents (0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%) were evaluated as partial substituents for the hydrophilic monomer 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, with the commercial adhesive One-Step (Bisco, Inc.) employed as the positive control.

Cysteine Cathepsins and Matrix Metalloproteases Among Breast Cancer Patients.

Breast Cancer (Dove Med Press)

May 2021

Department of Biochemistry, College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Background: Cellular proteases are thought to increase the likelihood of cancer cell infiltration and metastasis by degrading constituents of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Measuring activities of these proteases may be used as tumor markers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and as a possible target for treatment plan.

Objective: The aim of the current study is to evaluate cysteine cathepsins (CTSK and CTSL) and matrix metalloproteases-2 (MMP-2) and 9 (MMP-9) activities in human breast tumor tissue.

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the most common type of cardiovascular disease. Increasing the expression and activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) facilitates vascular remodeling and cardiovascular complications. Curcumin (the active ingredient of turmeric) is a potent natural anti-inflammatory agent, with cardiovascular protective effects.

Amphiregulin promotes trophoblast invasion and increases MMP9/TIMP1 ratio through ERK1/2 and Akt signal pathways.

Life Sci

November 2019

Reproductive Medical Center, The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, and Henan Province Key Laboratory of Reproduction and Genetics, Henan, PR China. Electronic address:

Aims: The aim of our study is to illustrate the role of amphiregulin in trophoblast invasiveness and underlying signal cascades.

Main Methods: An immortalized human early extravillous cell line, HTR-8/SVneo, was used for this investigation. Matrigel-transwell invasion assay was used for testing the effects of amphiregulin on cell invasiveness.
