This study investigated the ability of One-Up Bond alone and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), with and without a secondary seal of One-Up Bond or SuperEBA to seal saucer-shaped perforation defects in human molars. Cusps were removed, roots were amputated, and endodontic therapy completed on 40 extracted teeth. A cylindrical hole was made in each tooth from the furcation area to the chamber, into which a section of steel tubing was cemented. Intracoronal saucer-shaped defects were created over the perforation. The teeth were restored with MTA, One-Up Bond, or MTA with a secondary seal of One-Up Bond or SuperEBA. The integrity of the seal was evaluated by fluid filtration. MTA alone leaked significantly more than One-Up Bond or MTA with either secondary seal at 24 h. At 1 month, MTA, MTA plus One-Up Bond, and One-Up Bond alone were equivalent.

Tirapazamine (TP) has been shown to enhance the cytotoxic effects of ionizing radiation in hypoxic cells, thus making it a candidate for a radiosensitizer. This selective behavior is often directly linked to the abundance of O. In this paper, we study the electronic properties of TP in vacuum, micro-hydrated from one up to three molecules of water and embedded in a continuum of water.

Six dentin adhesives were tested in vitro regarding their cytotoxicity on human fibroblasts. The adhesives Hybrid Bond, One-up Bond F Plus, AdheSE, Clearfil SE Bond, Optibond Solo Plus and Syntac were eluted with culture medium as single or sequentially applied adhesive part for 24 h. 75 Petri dishes were produced per group.

We report on the gas phase vibrational spectroscopy of the hexahydrated sulfate dianion, SO42-(H2O)6, and its fully deuterated isotopologue, SO42-(D2O)6, using infrared photodissociation (IRPD) spectroscopy of the D2-tagged dianions in combination with density-functional-theory calculations on minimum-energy structures as well as finite temperature ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations. The IRPD spectra were recorded at an ion trap temperature of 12 K and in the spectral range from 650 to 3800 cm-1, covering the intramolecular modes of the solvent (OH/OD stretches and H2O/D2O bends) at higher energies, those of the solute (sulfate stretches) at intermediate energies and the intermolecular solute librational modes at the lowest energies. Isomer-specific double resonance in combination with messenger-tag dependent IRPD spectra show that only a single isomer is contributing significantly and that this isomer is not the highly symmetric Td but rather the lower symmetry C3 isomer.

Aim: To evaluate the water storage degradation of resin-dentine bonds of different adhesive systems to primary and permanent human dentine.
Methods: Flat occlusal human dentine surfaces of 15 primary molars and 15 permanent molars were randomly assigned according to adhesive systems: Adper Single Bond 2; Clearfil SE Bond and One Up Bond F Plus. After bonding procedures, the adhesives were applied according to the manufacturers' instructions and composite resin blocks were built.

Bacterial sortases are cysteine transpeptidases that regulate the covalent linkage of several surface protein virulence factors in Gram-positive bacteria. Virulence factors play significant roles in adhesion, invasion of host tissues, biofilm formation and immune evasion, mediating the bacterial pathogenesis and infectivity. Therefore, sortases are emerging as important targets for the design of new anti-infective agents.
