The possibility of testing spatial noncommutativity via Rydberg atoms is explored. An atomic di-pole of a cold Rydberg atom is arranged in appropriate electric and magnetic fields, so that the motion of the dipole is constrained to be planar and rotationally symmetric. Spatial noncommutativity leads the canonical angular momentum to possess fractional values. In the limit of vanishing kinetic energy, the dominate value of the lowest canonical angular momentum takes variant Planck's over h/2. Furthermore, in the limit of eliminating the magnetic field, the dominate value of the lowest canonical angular momentum changes from variant Planck's over h/2 to variant Planck's over h/4. This result is a clear signal of spatial noncommutativity. An experimental verification of this prediction is suggested.

Temporal multilayer structures in discrete physical systems towards arbitrary-dimensional non-Abelian Aharonov-Bohm interferences.

Temporal modulation recently draws great attentions in wave manipulations, with which one can introduce the concept of temporal multilayer structure, a temporal counterpart of spatially multilayer configurations. This kind of multilayer structure holds temporal interfaces in the time domain, which provides additional flexibility in temporal operations. Here we take this opportunity and propose to simulate a non-Abelian gauge field with a temporal multilayer structure in the discrete physical system.

Non-commutative perturbation theory for spin dynamics explains the factorization properties of RIDME background.

The intermolecular hyperfine relaxation-induced dipolar modulation enhancement (ih-RIDME) experiment has a promising potential to quantitatively characterize the nuclear environment in the 0.8-3 nm range around an electron spin. Such information about the spatial arrangement of nuclei is of great interest for structural biology as well as for dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) methods.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a seismic shift in the way in which work is conducted. Remote working or working from home is becoming a centrepiece of the next normal with strong support from both employers and employees. With reduced commuting activity associated with an expected 1 to 2 days working from home for many occupations and industries, associated with releasing commuting time to spend on other activities including changed levels and patterns on non-commuting travel, it is necessary, indeed essential, to allow for the incidence of working from home in integrated strategic transport and location model systems.

Revisiting the gravity laws of inter-city mobility in megacity regions.

Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX 77843 USA.

Inter-city mobility is one of the most important issues in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as it is essential to access the regional labour market, goods and services, and to constrain the spread of infectious diseases. Although the gravity model has been proved to be an effective model to describe mobility among settlements, knowledge is still insufficient in regions where dozens of megacities interact closely and over 100 million people reside. In addition, the existing knowledge is limited to overall population mobility, while the difference in inter-city travel with different purposes is unexplored on such a large geographic scale.

Here, joint spatial weak measurements with higher-order Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) point states are investigated experimentally. From the intensity patterns of the final LG point states, two dimensional position operators 〈X〉 and 〈Y〉 as well as high-order position operators 〈XY〉, 〈X - Y〉, 〈X〉, and 〈Y〉 are extracted simultaneously, from which both the complex weak values and joint weak values of two non-commuting observables can be obtained. The enhancement of joint weak values by the postselection state are analyzed.
