We report a fully inclusive measurement of the flavor changing neutral current decay b --> sgamma in the energy range 1.8 GeV < or = E*gamma < or = 2.8 GeV, covering 95% of the total spectrum. Using 140 fb(-1), we obtain B(b --> sgamma) = (3.55+/-0.32(+0.30+0.11)(-0.31-0.07)) x 10(-4), where the errors are statistical, systematic, and from theory corrections. We also measure the first and second moments of the photon energy spectrum above 1.8 GeV and obtain (Egamma) = 2.292+/-0.026+/-0.034 GeV and (E2gamma) - (Egamma)2 = 0.0305+/-0.0074+/-0.0063 GeV2, where the errors are statistical and systematic.

Introduction: Existing methods for morphological, organoleptic, and chemical authentication may not adequately ensure the accurate identification of plant species or guarantee safety. Herbal raw material authentication remains a major challenge in herbal medicine. Over the past decade, DNA barcoding, combined with an orthogonal approach integrating various testing methods for quality assurance, has emerged as a new trend in plant authentication.

SufU, a component of the SufCDSUB Fe-S cluster biosynthetic system, serves as a Zn-dependent sulfur-carrying protein that delivers inorganic sulfur in the form of cysteine persulfide from SufS to SufBCD. To understand this sulfur delivery mechanism, we studied the X-ray crystal structure of SufU and its sulfur-carrying state (persulfurated SufU) and performed functional analysis of the conserved amino acid residues around the Zn sites. Interestingly, sulfur-carrying SufU with Cys41-persulfide (Cys41-S-S) exhibited a unique Zn coordination structure, in which electrophilic S is ligated to Zn and nucleophilic/anionic S is bound to distally conserved Arg125.

Fatigue assessment of components subjected to random loads is a challenging task both due to the variability in amplitude and frequency of the loads and for the computational times required to perform classical time domain fatigue analysis. The frequency domain approach to fatigue life assessment offers a solution by utilizing the power spectral density of the random load, requiring minimal computational effort. However, frequency domain methods are limited to stationary Gaussian signals, while real-world loads often exhibit non-Gaussian characteristics.

Class switch recombination (CSR) diversifies the effector functions of antibodies and involves complex regulation of transcription and DNA damage repair. Here, we show that the deubiquitinase USP7 promotes CSR to immunoglobulin A (IgA) and suppresses unscheduled IgG switching in mature B cells independent of its role in DNA damage repair, but through modulating switch region germline transcription. USP7 depletion impairs Sα transcription, leading to abnormal activation of Sγ germline transcription and increased interaction with the CSR center via loop extrusion for unscheduled IgG switching.
