A 47-year-old Indian male presented with an inguinal mass clinically suspicious as a tumor. Histological examination of the excised mass demonstrated tissue reaction to degenerating intravascular adult filarial worms. The worms have been identified as a lymphatic filariae, most probably Wuchereria bancrofti. The case report underscores the need to maintain suspicion of genitourinary filarial lesions in non-endemic areas and describes atypical vascular lesions induced by lymphatic filariae.

Arthroplast Today

Background: With the rising prevalence of obesity, surgeons are frequently confronted with the problem of treating osteoarthritis of the hip via arthroplasty (total hip arthroplasty) in severely obese patients. To reduce the surgical impact, minimal-invasive approaches are often chosen. For this reason, the direct anterior approach has gained popularity but is suspected of leading to more wound complications in obese patients, especially by Gram-negative pathogens.

Purpose: Obesity is closely associated with a lower risk of inguinal hernia, but the association between different obesity metrics and the risk of inguinal hernia is still unclear.
Methods: In our study, we categorized obesity measurement indicators into three groups based on the difficulty of measurement: (1) indicators easily available, such as body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR); (2) indicators accessible with moderate difficulty, such as body fat percentage and body fat mass; (3) indicators difficultly accessible, such as the volume of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT). Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was used to investigate the causal relationship between various adiposity measures and the risk of inguinal hernia in both European ancestry and East Asians.

Inguinal masses have a large variety of causes, ranging from inguinal hernias to soft tissue sarcomas. One of the less prevalent causes is vascular origin. Venous aneurysms, unlike their arterial counterparts, are seen seldomly and experience in management of these cases is scarce.

This study aimed to investigate the mechanism by which Shegan Mahuang Decoction(SGMH) and its bitter Chinese herbs(BCHs) regulated the lung-gut axis through the bitter taste receptor 14(TAS2R14)/secretory immunoglobulin A(SIgA)/thymic stromal lymphopoietin(TSLP) to intervene in the epithelial cell barrier of cold asthma rats. Fifty SD rats were randomly divided into the following five groups: normal group, model group, dexamethasone group, SGMH group, and BCHs group. A 10% ovalbumin(OVA) solution was used to sensitize the rats via subcutaneous injection on both sides of the abdomen and groin, combined with 2% OVA atomization and cold(2-4 ℃) stimulation to induce a cold asthma model in rats.

Introduction: Low-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma (LGMS) is an atypical and extremely infrequent type of tumor, primary mass being usually present in subcutaneous and soft tissue. Bony involvement is very rare. It has a very high chance of recurrence locally due to its aggressive biological behavior, metastasis in other parts of body is rarely seen.
