Background: The aim of this study was to investigate whether the day of ovulation and the duration of a pretreatment cycle were related to the degree of follicular growth during subsequent contraceptive treatment.

Methods: This randomized, open-label study was performed in 40 healthy female volunteers, who were randomized by a computer-generated list after stratification for the ovulation day in a pretreatment cycle. They received two cycles of NuvaRing (21 subjects) or a combined oral contraceptive (COC) containing 30 microg ethinylestradiol and 150 microg levonorgestrel (19 subjects). Follicular diameter and serum hormone concentrations (FSH, LH, 17beta-estradiol, progesterone) were measured every third day. Data from treatment day 20 onwards were used for analysis.

Results: In the NuvaRing users, subjects with short cycles and early ovulations in the pretreatment cycle developed larger follicles during treatment than subjects with longer cycles and late ovulations. In the COC users, subjects with early ovulations in the pretreatment cycle developed larger follicles during treatment.

Conclusions: The degree of follicular growth during treatment with a combined hormonal contraceptive is influenced by the duration of the pretreatment cycle and particularly by the duration of the follicular phase.

In farm animals, little is known about the relationship between energy metabolism of immune cells and their activation state. Moreover, there has recently been evidence that dexamethasone, a powerful glucocorticoid-based drug, can exert its anti-inflammatory effects by interfering with the energy metabolism of immune cells, but the mechanisms are not yet fully understood. To address these knowledge gaps, we explored the connection between the energy metabolism of porcine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and their response to pro- and anti-inflammatory stimulation with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and dexamethasone (DEX) .

Nematodes of the superfamily Trichostrongyloidea, particularly abomasal species, have severe clinical implications associated with high morbidity and potential mortality of exotic ruminants housed in zoological institutions. The life cycle and ecology of Trichostrongyloid gastrointestinal nematodes (TGN) present challenges in their control including development of anthelmintic resistance and reinfection in high-density managed herds. Copper oxide wire particles (COWP) are used to help control TGN infections in ruminants, administered as a bolus or a feed additive.

Introduction: Despite recent advances in immunotherapy combinations for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC), rapid disease progression following chemotherapy discontinuation remains a significant challenge. While the addition of pembrolizumab to platinum-etoposide has demonstrated a modest improvement in progression-free survival (PFS), there is an urgent need for more effective maintenance strategies. Sacituzumab govitecan (SG), an antibody-drug conjugate targeting Trop-2, has shown promising activity in pretreated ES-SCLC.

Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Nuclear Medicine, Istanbul University, Fatih, İstanbul, 34093, Turkey.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the personalized dosimetric approach by calculating the cumulative renal absorbed dose (cRD) and assessing its impact on renal functions in patients diagnosed with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer who underwent four or more cycles of [Lu] Lu-PSMA - 617 therapy.

Methods: The study included 110 patients who received ≥ 4 cycles of [Lu] Lu-PSMA - 617 therapy. Whole-body static and abdominal SPECT-CT imaging was performed at 4, 24, and 96 h post-administration.
