[Changes in indices of the brain hemodynamics in patients with vertebral artery stenosis during surgical treatment].

Transcranial ultrasound dopplerography was instituted in 38 patients with stenosis of the vertebral artery before surgical management and after reparative operations. Significant decrease in the linear velocity of bloodflow along the vertebral and basilar arteries in the postoperative period has been found to get improved, which fact permitted assessing the efficacy of treatment as positive (good in 39 to 44 percent of cases, satisfactory in 31 to 33 percent). Ultrasound dopplerography techniques allow the characterization of stenosis of the vertebral artery and assessment of efficiency of surgical treatment.
