The considerable recent advances in copper-dioxygen coordination chemistry demonstrate the existence of a variety of dioxygen-derived Cu(n)-O(2) complexes, forming a basis for discussion of alternate oxidant types in copper chemistry and biochemistry. Peroxo complexes may react as nucleophilic reagents, and several types of electrophilic mono- or dicopper (hydro)peroxides exist. Side-on peroxo-dicopper(II) species effect aromatic hydroxylations, including phenolic substrates, in model systems and in the enzyme tyrosinase. Bis-micro-oxo-dicopper(III) entities are capable of hydrogen-atom abstraction reactions, or atom transfer to phosphines and sulfides. The scope and mechanisms of mononuclear Cu(II) superoxides or peroxides are yet to be established, but may be relevant to monooxygenases like peptidylglycine alpha-hydroxylating monooxygenase.

Catalytic upcycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) into high-value oxygenated products is a fascinating process, yet it remains challenging. Here, we present a one-step tandem strategy to realize the thermal catalytic oxidation upcycling of PET to terephthalic acid (TPA) and high-value glycolic acid (GA) instead of ethylene glycol (EG). By using the Au/NiO with rich oxygen vacancies as catalyst, we successfully accelerate the hydrolysis of PET, accompanied by obtaining 99% TPA yield and 87.

Objectives: This study investigated the impact of hypoxic preconditioning on the survival and oxidative stress tolerance of nestin-expressing hair follicle stem cells (hHFSCs) and SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells, two crucial cell types for central nervous system therapies. The study also examined the relative expression of three key genes, HIF1α, BDNF, and VEGF following hypoxic preconditioning.
Materials And Methods: hHFSCs were isolated from human hair follicles, characterized, and subjected to hypoxia for up to 72 hours.

Objective: Many different types of infectious oral diseases have been identified clinically, including chronic periodontitis. is the main pathogen causing chronic periodontitis, which is closely related to atherosclerosis (AS) and can promote the expression levels of caveolin 1 (Cav-1) and induced ribonucleic acid (RNA)-binding protein human antigen R (HuR). However, the roles of Cav-1 and its relationship with HuR in -mediated AS progression remain largely unknown.

Serum and glucocorticoid-regulated kinase 1 (SGK1), a member of the AGC family of serine/threonine protein kinases, is one of the most conserved protein kinases in eukaryotic evolution. SGK1 is expressed to varying degrees in various types of cells throughout the body, and plays an important role in hypertension, ion channels, oxidative stress, neurological disorders, and cardiovascular regulation. In recent years, a number of scholars have devoted themselves to the study of the role and function of SGK1 in neurological diseases.

Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a clinical syndrome that can result from acute and chronic liver disorders, such as hepatitis, liver failure caused by alcohol or drugs, autoimmune diseases, metabolic diseases, cirrhosis, different types of tumors, and infections. This study aimed to investigate the effects of different doses of Beta-myrcene (β-myrcene) on the improvement of HE caused by thioacetamide (TAC) in male rats. To induce liver failure and acute damage in the studied animals, TAC was administered to rats at a dose of 100 mg/kg of body weight through an intraperitoneal (IP) injection with 24-hour intervals for seven consecutive days.
