With glycine or L-alanine as ligands, a series of novel 3d-4f heterometallic Ln(6)Cu(24) clusters with the formulas of [Sm(6)Cu(24)(mu(3)-OH)(30)(Gly)(12)(Ac)(12)(ClO(4))(H(2)O)(16)].(ClO(4))(9).(OH)(2).(H(2)O)(31) (1) and [Ln(6)Cu(24)(mu(3)-OH)(30)(Ala)(12)(Ac)(6)(ClO(4))(H(2)O)(12)].(ClO(4))(10).(OH)(7).(H(2)O)(34) (2.Ln) (Ln = Tb, Gd, Sm, and La) were synthesized by self-assembly, among which 1 and 2.Tb were characterized by X-ray structure analysis. The metal skeleton of the clusters may be described as a huge [Ln(6)Cu(12)] octahedron (constructed with 6 Ln(III) ions located at the vertices and 12 inner Cu(II) ions located at the midpoints of the edges) connected by 12 additional Cu(II) ions (every 2 are connected to 1 Ln(III) vertex). The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibilities of 2.Ln was investigated and was found to vary with the central rare-earth ions. Impedance spectroscopic measurements of 2.Ln reveal that they are ionic conductors.

The down-regulation of p21 after long-term CDK4/6 inhibition represents a key mechanism causing resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors in some tumor cells, while the HDAC inhibitor could upregulate the level of p21. Herein, a series of novel CDK4/6 and HDAC dual-targeting inhibitors based on the moiety of palbociclib were designed and synthesized. Among them, compound N14 potently inhibited CDK4/6 and HDAC1/6 at nanomolar levels and induced cell apoptosis and G/G phase arrest through HDAC-p21-CDK signaling pathway in HuH-7 cell line.

X-ray repair cross-complementing 2 (XRCC2), a critical protein in homologous recombination (HR), plays a significant role in the occurrence, progression, and drug resistance of colorectal cancer (CRC). In this study, a series of xanthohumol C derivatives were synthesized, and their anticancer activity was evaluated. The results revealed that A33 demonstrated the potent anticancer activity and effectively inhibited the proliferation of CRC cells in vitro.

The increasing global prevalence of Alzheimer's disease necessitates the development of novel therapeutic approaches. Neurodegenerative diseases are associated with increased oxidative stress and levels of cholinesterase enzymes. Hence, the development of cholinesterase inhibitors and antioxidants may provide neuroprotective effects.

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) offer high energy density and environmental benefits hampered by the shuttle effect related to sluggish redox reactions of long-chain lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). However, the fashion modification of the d-band center in separators is still ineffective, wherein the mechanism understanding always relies on theoretical calculations. This study visibly probed the evolution of the Co 3d-band center during charge and discharge using advanced inverse photoemission spectroscopy/ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy (IPES/UPS), which offers reliable evidence and are consistent well with theoretical calculations.

Background: Plant diseases caused by plant pathogens pose a great threat to biodiversity and food security, and the problem of drug resistance caused by traditional antibiotics and fungicides is becoming more and more serious. It is urgent to develop new antibacterial molecules with low toxicity and high efficiency. Marinoquinoline A is an alkaloid isolated from marine actinomycetes and has a variety of pharmacological activities.
