Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of lateral closing wedge osteotomy with tension-band wire fixation for correcting cubitus varus deformity in pediatric patients. The primary objective was to assess the bone union rate, functional outcomes, and potential complications associated with this surgical approach.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 104 pediatric cases (ages 7-15) with post-traumatic cubitus varus deformity treated between January 2018 and December 2019 at the Pediatric Orthopedic Department.

Background: The incidence of revision shoulder arthroplasty continues to rise, and infection is a common indication for revision surgery. Treatment of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) in the shoulder remains a controversial topic, with the literature reporting varying methodologies, including the use of debridement and implant retention, single-stage and 2-stage surgeries, antibiotic spacers, and resection arthroplasty. Single-stage revision has been shown to have a low rate of recurrent infection, making it more favorable because it precludes the morbidity of a 2-stage operation.

Introduction: Aneurysmal bone cysts (ABCs) are benign, locally destructive, blood-filled reactive lesions of the bone most commonly presenting as pain or mass effect. Most are frequently located in the proximal humerus, distal femur, proximal tibia, spine, uncommonly the sacrum, and rarely the sacroiliac (SI) joint. We present a rare case of ABC in the SI joint and its recurrence treated with percutaneous intralesional doxycycline ablation and the corresponding outcome.

Article Synopsis
  • This study assesses how bony lesions affect shoulder dislocation recurrence among patients under 50 years old.
  • A total of 92 participants were followed for about two years, revealing that 24% experienced recurrence, with 39% showing glenoid lesions and 95% humeral lesions.
  • Results indicate that the only strong predictor of recurrence is being younger than 20, with no significant difference in recovery outcomes depending on the presence of bony lesions.
